They did try and have the match as far away from Austria as possible. But it's not like no-one round here drives to Austria every year to go skiing.
A few years ago I went to Oktoberfest with some friends. In an effort to not be hammered the entire time we decided to hire a car and go to Berchtesgaden and visit the Eagle's Nest. Five of us jammed into this tiny little car flying down the autobahn. We're almost there when we get flagged down by a cop. He says, in his best Schwarzenegger accent: "Do you haf pairmit?" Our driver "Permit?" "You must haf pairmit to drife in Austria" "We're not not going to Austria" "You are in Austria" We all looked at each other, a trifle bemused. "That will be von hundert tventy Euros" "Your joking?" "I nefer joke" he said, rather ominously. Anyway, turns out Berchtesgaden is on a bit of Germany that rudely pokes into Austria and if you want to avoid the country cousins you have to leave the autobahn earlier than we realised. A costly mistake. Anyway, we got to Adolf's old gaff high in the mountains, weather was perfectly clear and it was stunning. We managed to laugh about it, eventually.
French were less than impressive. The same.old midfielders rather than new amd exciting ones in a gsme they should be cruising. This is one to watch to see if they are all fur coat and no knickers.
Lovely place Berchtesgaden very clean as is Switzerland and Austria ,stayed there one night on the way back from motoring holiday to Corfu.
Quality squad and some very talented players on that bench coming through as well. Think they have strongest squad in the tournament tbh
I fancy them to win the competition, based on absolutely nothing. Ronaldo hasn’t won anything for a while, maybe his turn - after Messi winning the WC.
really enjoyed some of the games between the "lesser" teams as they all seemed to go fr the win while playing neat football. good tournament so far and i've watched a lot
