Let’s not lose sight of the time it would have taken the club to get an agreement to sign from Still - negotiations, drawing-up of contract, agreeing of all contract details, typing and checking of legal details - anyone who has had dealings with the legal profession will know how long theses things can take - just for Still to change his mind at the point of signing. In my opinion the club had the rug pulled from under them and had to start catch-up.
In some people's minds signing a new manager is like ordering a new BBQ on Amazon ... ... if you don't like it just send it back, no quibble.
Apparently all you have to do is identify the man you want then pull out all the stops. It’s that simple etc
as far as i am concerned, the club 'had' WS all lined up and ready to sign the contract, we won't know exactly why it took the rest of the season but there are a couple of possible reasons, one being the compensation needed and the other one being his then current contract...the way it panned out we can presume that he was 'not allowed' to talk to other clubs while under contract therefore dodds was put in to see the season out, of course we can be pretty sure there was contact before that but how much etc all comes down to his then contract. from the meagre media reports it took him maybe a week to do his u-turn and it was most likely at that point the club realised they may well have lost him so the search began again, hence the current 'WTF is going on' while we wait for news. i do not think (and never will) that this has all been done on an efficient and professional manner, by now they should know what a new coach will require and be prepared to move the goalposts IF needed, if the reports are anywhere near the truth they offered a lot more to WS than others, surely it makes sense to offer the same to others. people have mentioned AN going to stoke and how fast that happened, but he was on a 'rolling contract' so could talk to any club he wanted to at any time but i would think that taking more than a month since being dropped in it is really stretching the whole process, that said, i am keeping faith in the regime to get it sorted in time to prepare the lads well and in time to sort any player problems.
Again, I am assuming, like me you're not involved in football recruitment. But lets look at recruitment from a border picture. You draw a short list of people you feel can do the job. You then grade them 1st choice, 2nd choice etc etc. If for any reason your first choice decides he doesn't want the job...then you go down your list. What you don't do, is let your first choice dictate the length of time he feels he should fanny about making his mind up...then your 2nd and 3rd pick may well have gone elsewhere. If you feel that people on here think this is an easy process I think you're wrong. I also cannot believe you feel the need to defend how the club have made a total bollocks of this process. If the Will Still story is correct ( all guess work) then the club is at fault for letting it drag on. If that wasn't the case, then what possible excuse other than a clear lack of a professional approach can you attribute to this delay. Done correct, recruitment is that simple...but as the old saying goes..fail to prepare then prepare to fail,
Was just about to say but we been here so many times! Hoping it's true this time as there is something about him I like
He's been the one for me as well, everything I have read about him suggests he will.be a great fit with a huge potential
https://x.com/imiasanmia/status/1803143242340245882?s=46 The ideas of René Marić are being concretely taken into account in the squad planning. Kompany's future assistant coach was previously the U19 coach at the club and has a close relationship with Christoph Freund
Football management is not a meritocracy. Recruiting football managers does not follow the same process as recruiting an office worker, or a bus driver.
explain the different process then?.... you appear to have the inside track on this And by the way, I have adopted this process for CFO's and General managers in the past...not bus drivers
