But that doesn’t mean there are no actions. Without them parading someone they haven’t signed, what actions do you want? I get it’s taken far longer than it should, but the “actions” in this context I would say are the actual appointing of the head coach.
Ownership changes also eat up so much time and as you say are a lottery. I like KLD and want him to be better and better the club instead of selling to someone who may or may not take us on.
Best to chill and relax and wait for the announcement. There's nothing we can do about it, the clubs in good hands, but if you let it get to you, I'm sure it will affect your mental health.
They’ve made so many mistakes in a short space of time like. I do think they’ve done a lot of good but this appointment and the recruitment need to be bang on.
We had a head coach for the vast majority of that time as well you know. Interim or not, he was head coach and he was in the job longer than Beale was. No point erasing that. This sort of comment detracts from a very real and very fair criticism of the club and what out problem is. We are now at 45 days since the season ended. No exaggeration. Not really good enough. Clearly the first 28 days of the hunt we were all in on Will Still and if we had got him, most would have been pleased. Realistically the failure is that we don't seem to have hedged our bets/done due diligence on other candidates and that has left us coachless for 17 days or whatever it is since Still had his head turned. 120 days is just reductive. 45 days is a fair statement. However, all will likely be forgiven if they bring in the right man before pre season and a few quality signings that turn the squad around before we start again in earnest.
Are any of those sides north of 120 days without a permanent coach? Its alright to be critical where its due you know. This has been handled poorly.
Ideal situation here is that Regis Le Bris is actually coming in to replace Speakman... He did manage Lorients academy for years and did a stint as Director of Football. Then we hire Cifuentes or Maric as head coach. Speakman being replaced might explain why this **** show has gone on as long as it has.
Again. 120 days is just silly. We had an interim head coach. Why would we have hired a permanent head coach. We didn't need two head coaches. It's 45 days. This isn't me defending the club. I'm pretty arsey at the club. But 45 days ought to be a strong enough criticism without the need to turn to hyperbole which makes us look obtuse and unreasonable in our complaints.
For me, Its been a money saving exercise by the club from the 19th January until the new season starts... Its been a "Lets wait until as late as possible before we commit to a new Coach"..
It’s fair to say that the owner has had 120 days to at least look at candidates.. I find it hard to believe they didn’t put out feelers during the time Didds was in charge.. if that’s the case then 45 days after a 75 day opportunity to scour the market is still way too long
Get the point you are making, but the search didnt just start 45 days ago. The '120 days' isnt applicable to 'no head coach' as you say, but it doesnt mean there shouldnt of been significant work done in preparation for a post season appointment. I cant give the club the benefit of the doubt by saying they've only had 45 days personally. The amount of time they had with Dodds as interim makes the time its taking post season look even worse from my perspective.
Why is "permanent" suddenly important? The club made the decision to put Dodds in place until the end of the season. So the clock starts after the Sheff Wed game
Hmmmmm I'm not entirely sure about this as my reason is that the club knew all along that Dodds was not a 'permanent' head coach but rather interim on the basis that it would allow them enough time to learn from mistakes, identify targets, shortlist, interview and agree on an appointment. They were fully aware that Dodds would be stepping down from the head coach role as soon as he agreed to tale over as interim, they always knew we'd need a new head coach going into this season. Soeakman even mentioned in March at the supporters meeting that they'd began the process to sort the new head coach. I don't think it's unfair to use 120 days because that's exactly how long they've had since Beale was sacked to sort out a permanent one for this season. Even if we take that interim period for them to 'learn' and evaluate what went wrong, it was in Speakmans own words in March that the process had begun. So even if we use that as a barometer it's been over 70 days. Either way, I think we can all agree it's not been handled well
