Spurs at home to kick off the new season. Liverpool away on Boxing Day (Merry Xmas!) but a decent last 5 games......if we're not relegated by then!
I was thinking that. Hopefully we’ve still got something to play for come the last 5 games, they’re all winnable. October looks a favourable month too. I’m sure the cogs are turning behind the scenes and we’ll have a new manager very soon to get us prepared for the new season!
So it’s officially Cooper. Funny how in the ‘Who do we want as the new manager?’ thread, Noggin the Nog got more votes. I think the board are looking beyond this season, and the likelihood that we’re back in the championship. I feel Cooper will stick around if that’s the case, I don’t think Potter would have.
I have to admit that, of the 3 main contenders, he was my third choice. It comes across as rather an underwhelming and unambitious choice, but I hope I'm proved as wrong as Gary Lineker with his 'Ranieri. Really?' comment. He certainly worked well with a very average (not meaning to be derogatory here) Forest team, and seems to be well respected in the game. Let's get behind him and see what he can do with some decent players from the start. Will he try the same style of play as Maresca? Probably not too dissimilar, and hopefully with a little more pace. The real work for next season starts now.
Watkins showed why I worry about big Jannick in his cameo last night ... Southgate did Denmark a huge favour by playing arguably the only striker in the tournament unable to exploit the big man's tangible lack of pace ... he'll get done easily by qui ker forward unless he has pacey cover (Jackson showed that in the FA Cup) ...
