It took me a while to remember that Kevin Danso once played for us. How could I forget those 6 loan appearances!

Disagree. He went with TAA in midfield. That is so unlike GS of old. And I thought he made the right subs at the right time. Maybe could have been made a tad earlier if you like. I thought it was fairly well managed overall. Our record in the first game of a Euros is wretched - I think it's now 2 wins in 11 or something now. Not easy playing a physical side like Serbia, particularly when they upped their energy in the second half. I thought the criticism last night was over the top. Plenty of room for improvement sure, but we weren't bad by any means.

Take your point Tom, but would agree to disagree. I just saw the same freezing in the face of a challenge. But it’s the first game, doesn’t really matter. We’ll go and beat Denmark 3-0, everyone will get overexcited. We’ll beat a decent team in the quarters, then fall short after scoring first in the semis.

France are very beatable if they play like they did tonight. But they will improve and so will we. Also Mbappe is possibly injured. A definite broken nose by the looks of it.

He was class. Put his head where others wouldn't put their feet!! Was highly rated when with us but didn't get much of a look in and don't remember much about him

Only played a couple of games, and Ralph shoehorned him in at RB. A real shame.

    I like this …

“The England fans yelled “Juuuude”, as they do now. And at times here there was a very clear sense of two games taking place simultaneously, twin dimensions bleeding into one another, Stranger Things does the European Championship.

On one hand there was Bellingham’s opening 45 minutes, during which he basically did everything.

And around this, like underlay beneath a collage, was the other game, England versus Serbia, during which everyone else got on with a slow-burn 0-0 over 90 minutes.

Luckily for England the final score was an aggregate of these overlapping events. England won because Bellingham won, and then because Marc Guéhi and John Stones defended skilfully. But the overall effect was like watching one man complete an immaculate 147 break, all clink and ping and perfect angles, while around him everyone else inside the snooker hall has an inconclusive mass brawl.

It was absurd at times how involved Bellingham was in that first half. This was like watching Rambo play football. It was like Alan Ball in extra time at Wembley. It was Super Hans accidentally running to Windsor. Rarely can one player have been so dominant, but found his team only 1-0 up, and precariously so.”

Hopefully France beat England so I can connect my phone to the pub speakers and blare this out as soon as the full time whistle goes. Sit back and watch the reaction

Bellingham was very good in the first half but as an outsider without white tinted glasses on, maybe it's being over exaggerated. Love the Super Hans reference though!
