You are optimistic if you don't think there will be hell on about whoever is appointed. I'd like them to go back to Rosenior but that would result in hell on. Alex Rae would be a bizarre appointment but once the 'hell on' had subsided he's someone we could get behind him unlike the awful Mick Beale. I'm not saying I want Rae but he has managed a couple of clubs and then had lots of coaching experience in England, Scotland and Belgium.
Support who comes in and being happy with the appointment are two seperate things though, bit of a mute point re Rae anyway as no way in hell would it be him
Fair enough but if you genuinely don’t think this is a problem at all or disagree with the fact that players wouldn’t be very happy with it. I’d love to know what you know that I don’t on how that wouldn’t be the case
I won't bash the club while they are trying to employ a new coach. Best chill and relax until it's sorted.
Some won't like to hear this but I am starting to feel like the club are scared to move in any direction due to most of the names being linked with the job splitting opinion (Lampard, Heckingbottom etc). The club made a rash of mistakes in a very short period of time with the Mowbray sacking, Beale appointment and the derby fiasco. It feels like they're sh!tting their pants that whatever option they land on will cause more discontent.
You can bash the process though because it’s clear there’s a problem mate. They really need to pull it out of the bag and get someone decent in to get fans back onside because if there’s such a wait for a piss poor appointment the frustration will spill over into the start of the season and the SoL will become toxic, again.
The stadium atmosphere was absolutely rotten when Beale was in charge. Crowds flooding out way more than usual too. If you don’t think the club is in a bad place take a look at how many were left in the ground for the “lap of honour”
I've been off for a few days and saw Didier Digard linked, which might not be a bad appointment. He's the head coach at Nice B in the French third tier, but was interim coach of the first team for almost 6 months and had 48% win ratio over 25 games. He played for Boro as a young man so I suspect speaks the language fluently and knows the area at least somewhat.
I can't really remember it being toxic even when Beale was in, some people didn't bother turning up when it was clear there wasn't really anything to play for. I just think folk get carried away on social meja, and try to link those ramblings with what is going on with the atmosphere. I'd still say a high percentage of the match going support barely even glance at the socials. In many instances, it's actually a far cry from what is actually going on.
Not sure I agree. I think they know they need to get this appointment right, but I don't think they are scared to make an appointment.
The Beale fiasco was a disgrace he was set up to fail from the start. Many on here will know I don’t rate O’nien at all but i’ll still always give my support for everyone on that pitch in red and white.. we conceded a goal start of the season where he was dragged out of position or made a mistake I can’t remember who it was against now maybe Rotherham and half the stand where I sit were singing for Danny Bathh. Literally about 10/15 minutes on the clock.
