Can anyone really think sides like Spain or Germán would take their foot of the throat like that..... would they heck, 1 would become 2, would become 3..... they'd impose their superiority.....

    Still a win's a win....

I thought Albania looked way better against Italy than we did tonight

They had one shot on target from way out. Comfortable win, clean sheet and won’t have to play those cloggers again.

All the other sharp coaches in this tournament will have had a good look at that and planned accordingly. I don’t rate Denmark at all, let’s see what we do against them.

Looked good for first half hour and deserving of the lead. Last 60 we were unimpressive. No effective press, we sat off them and let them play.
Agree, thought Foden was not in the game today.
Disappointing. Still, three points in the bag and only need one more win to push through now.

****ing hell this analysis goes on forever.

Remind me when Foden has bossed a game for England.

First competitive game in a major tournament, after a long season for most of them. I can understand if it takes a game or two for them to warm up...so I'm pleased we at least got the win.

How many times have we drawn the first match against teams we should have beaten in tournaments, I’ll take that and move forward, 6 more more ****ty 1-0 wins and it’s coming home. I’m normally a moaner with England but I am happy with that

You lot who know so much about football...please tell me what Foden brings to the party.

He was the greatest player of his generation...until Bellingham arrived....so he is now the second best player of his ge..

    Is he?

So many players who play for England who are brilliant for their club yet are expected to do different jobs at international games and are let down by weaker players and managers

Should have started Trevor Sinclair on the left.

I don’t think Denmark or Slovenia will be looking forward to playing them - they’re very physical and will cause teams problems.

Well he didn't bring much tonight..... but that could be down to him being stuck out wide left, where's for his club he has a more free role and can drift all over the pitch.... he wasn't helped by playing Trippier as a left back, they didn't have the natural flow that Walker and Saka had on the right side fir the first half hour at least.....
Would have liked to have seen Ebs given half an hour....

Missed it all as I was out watching a semi-naked Algerian junkie singing about fetishes, Mark E Smith, circumcision and bombing Disneyland, throwing sweets out of his underpants whilst his bandmates went wild on stage....from what I've read on here, think I had the more enjoyable evening

All in all that was a typical Southgate performance in a tournament apart from the other side scoring. He still lacks the tactical nous or the incite to change things sooner when we are seriously under the pump. Got away with it tonight but you know we won't when we meet a top team. It's so ****ing annoying to see this all about to pan out the same way again. A win is a win and on we go, I just know what's coming down the line unfortunately. We desperately need Shaw in at left wing back cos Trippier just can't help us out there anymore and its impeding whoever is playing left wing.
