And their keeper made one save. I felt the ball didn’t quite drop for them in our box.

How so? Serbia couldn't break us down. We were solid if unspectacular. We dealt with their crosses well. Serbia didn't have any really good chances. In fact if it wasn't for a worldie save from their keeper we would have won 2-0. We didn't play very well, but to say we were fortunate is a massive stretch.

Because Guehi and Stones dealt with pretty much everything that came in.

Could equally argue we only scored as Saka’a cross had a lucky deflection. We didn’t have anyone making the kind of clever passes Dusan was.

We are worse than the sum of our parts.

It’s as simple as that for me. This is an incredible squad by our standards. Southgate needs to stop being so tactically naive

I really didn’t think it was…. They did fine throughout, the issues second half were ahead of them meaning the ball kept coming back at them

I was really impressed by Guehi. I thought he stood up to the challenge really well.

Also by picking players based on individual ability rather than suitability for team and tactics he makes it harder to find subs to be proactive.

Content enough with that performance. Serbia are a good team and first games are always tough.

Serbia were obviously going to push up chasing a goal but they really didn't create anything much.

Guehi great debut, Jude and Rice immense, Saka excellent.

Biggest negative again was Foden. Needs dropping.

    Agreed.

If you didn’t know it, you wouldn’t guess he was the newbie in there.

Just thinking exactly the same. Great performance.

    Rate him & stones.
Saka, Rice and Bellingham great. Everyone else needs to step up.

I definitely want to see palmer on the left at some point

We lack balance. We don’t have a leftback. We don’t actually have a clever playmaker. We are one DM short.

We just aimlessly hoofed it though, just sheer panic took over in the second half.

Rice and Pickford were good too

Gallagher and Bowen both did fine when they came on

I like how the bbc just analysed him, and the best things he did was from the right back position <laugh>

TBF I thought both subs who came on with a significant chunk of the game left (Gallagher and Bowen) both contributed well.

That miscontrol they nearly scored from first half was embarrassing!
