Good to see him taking that responsibility for himself. Knowing what his head coach wants from him would help though wouldn't it. Maybe he needs to bulk up a bit, or be more explosive, or mobile, or less susceptible to injury. The kind of thing you can really concentrate on when you're not playing twice a week. Worst case scenario you come back having worked on one thing and find out your head coach who's been here for a day or two wanted something completely different.
Of course this will of been done, we don't have a head coach but players go away at the end of the previous season with plans for there fitness and what to expect when they return.
Hate to be that guy but the real story around the Trippier thing is way less salacious than you think. I probably have better Mags gossip than I do for us.
The players are all given training/fitness/dietary info before they leave for the summer. There is nothing going on at AOL right now, but there will be in a couple of weeks Also, you don't need a head coach for fitness/nutrition work but you do need one for training, hence my post about it being important we have a HC for day 1 of PS
You don't need a head coach to tell him any of that, he will have a personal programme already. This training he is doing himself, a lot more of players do this sort of thing now before preseason starts.
The problem with this never ending search for a first team coach is… if the appointment KLD and KS make goes tits-up then there is truly no way back for them. They’ve took their time to get the “.right” guy ( their words) so whoever it will be needs to hit the ground running. No excuses
It's good enough to finish mid table, I have zero relegation fears unless something breaks the spirit in the dressing room.
Might be a good thing, as they’ll know this, so hopefully they back the new head coach in the transfer market. Can’t afford not to as our current squad was on course for relegation last season. Failure to spend this summer and we’ll go down.
What makes you say that? Because based on the last 6 months, we’re 23rd in the form table. We’re very much not a mid table team currently.
And even then, we might struggle. Clarke got 15 odd goals last season, and we still only just survived. We need more than just one goal scorer.
Even if Clarke stays (he'll be going of course) our tactics have been so obviously pass to Clarke and hope he produces some magic. You simply cannot rely on that week after week. You need to be creating tap ins and the odd bit of magic supplements that.
You don't need a head coach to tell a player what he wants from him? I mean, if we had a recognizable and consistent style, maybe that would be a good point. It seems like continuity is a word like imminent to the club in that they have no idea what either one means.
And we would have finished nowhere near where we did if we had left TM in charge. The squad needs improving but is lot better than where we finished
