It’s been a sad & predictable feature of this transfer window that people are reading things on other club’s forums, and then trying to pass it off as “itk” . It’s sad.
I’m hearing from my source (the BBC website) that Jared Braithwaite is available from Everton. I’m hearing they want £35m. My sauce tells me we might or might not be interested, but remember that I told you this weeks ago if we are.
Bexley has been totally f***** should Alfie leave. He cannot even get location and property status right.
I'd be a lot happier if we slapped a "not for sale" notice on Alfie rather than just rejecting a bid for him. If he does go NJ will be complicit. Not his fault Dobbo and CBT left but he has work to do to keep my faith if Alfie goes.
I agree. There would be a pattern starting to form if May goes. I wasn’t that worried about CBT, and he didn’t exactly go on to set the world on fire at Derby Ciunty. George Dobson & Alfie May are the standard of player that a team that is serious about promotion from League One builds a team around.
This lot don't give a fart about standards of players. The alarm sounded when Dobson was sold. Anybody serious about building a better team does not sell one of its two best players. The fact we are even having a conversation about the possibility of losing the other one as well says it all. Whatever interests these shifty con men are serving, they are not acting in the interest of CAFC. Nathan Jones is either being rogered over a barrel, or he's in on it. How can everybody not see that?
But they didn’t sell Dobson. What they did do was on Scott’s instructions, gave Dobson a derisory offer because Scott didn’t rate him. But don’t let facts get in the way of yet another rant.
It’ll be Jones decision if Alfie s not in his plans that’s for sure but I can’t see him letting him go if he hasn’t got a suitable replacement
We can’t stop offers coming in for Alfie. Hopefully what we have done, is put a price tag on him and then forgot about the story. “£5M and if you can agree personal terms with him, he’s yours”. That’s the beauty of having the league’s top goal scorer under contract. You DO NOT sell that player to a promotion rival, unless you can pull their trousers down and shaft them up the ars* while you’re doing so.
@lardiman I was told at first hand what happened with George Dobson . My sources are a member of his family & a very senior fan at the club. A well known fan with family links to CAFC. Last Summer Dobson, as captain, went to Scott with an issue about squad bonuses. A heated argument ensued, and Scott refused to back down. This inevitably had an impact on squad morale at the start of last season. Scott I am told is someone who’s rule at Sparrows Lane is “no back chat” , and what he says, goes. Dobson asked for the security of a three year deal, and a modest pay rise. He was paid far less than wasters including Kirk & Fraser & McGrandles, but he wasn’t being greedy. Scott declined the pay rise and only offered him a 2 year deal. Even up to January. Dobson & his representatives made clear that GD wanted to stay at the club - his Dad was desperate for him to stay - but the three numb skulls in the SMT would not budge, and we have ended up losing our best player in the last 3 years for nothing. The fault rests entirely, 100% with “big ego, small ability” Andy Scott, which is why I gag when I see a handful of nerds & morons on the other forum defending him.
As an aside, I feel really sorry for George Dobson’s Dad. He followed his son home & away in the last 2 seasons - unlike Bexley Boy & GD’s forum detractors on ITTV - Dobbo’s Dad attended more Charlton games in that period than all of them, combined #irony He was desperate for his son to stay, threw himself into CAFC , loved our fanbase, and was a lively down to earth bloke, willing to chat. He is gutted that his son had ended up in Hungary, but to quote the Voice of ITTV “nObOdY fORceD hIM tO lEaVE”
And this remains the crux of our problem. Mary, Mungo and Midge ARE still running the show, despite claims that Midge has been sidelined somehow. I’ve seen absolutely NOTHING to suggest that NJ has any more money to spend than his two predecessors and absolutely NOTHING to suggest that he has any more control than his two predecessors. Our success or failure next season will still come down to the usual factors - strength of the other teams, injuries, luck and just a small input of whether NJ is a better manager than MA and DH. It’s telling that most of our predicted finishing positions on the other thread, puts us a modest few places above last year’s awful position. We know our football on here.
Dobson is gone. That's a fact. Explain it away all you want. Doesn't make any difference. CAFC is not going to improve off the back of your dissembling. Why are you invested in making excuses for these fraudsters? Scott is probably quite happy to be their public fall guy - the focus for fans' grumbles. I expect he's being paid extra to be the 'bad penny' for whatever game they're playing.
Sadly, if or when Scott goes and nothing improves the focus of disappointment will simply transfer to somebody else. Probably Nathan Jones. In his turn Jones will be ousted and somebody else will be chosen to take pops at. It's the same old hamster wheel. Blame a fall guy, call for him to go, then when he's gone begin grumbling about the next fall guy. Never the organ grinders, always the monkey. They are all crooks and swindlers.
