But here in the UK four or five people (on average) are killed by incidents involving Cows each year. Granted mostly on farms and involving farm workers - though their lives are as important as anybody else's. But members of the Public have also been fatally attacked by Cows; presumably trampled or charged. These are large and potentially very dangerous animals. Their placid reputation and rose-tinted image as gormless, harmless farm animals is comforting for kids, but not aligned with reality. The Police have a duty to protect the Public. If this stray Cow had trampled some kids in the street, who would be getting brickbats for not looking out for them? The Police. So get off their backs James Cleverly. I agree more severe penalties are needed - they know prisons are full and even if they do get sent down they get the use of gyms, pool tables , TV’s etc etc - there’s no deterrent
