As Two has often said, owners come and go, Acun be no different, seeing as Turkey is as corrupt as the Tories it’s no surprise money laundering comes up now and then, well all the time

We have seen glad handing owners many times, Robinson, the stealers, Lloyd and Wilby, Duffen, and now Acun, Allam not so much, but Sir Adam was the very best owner we had, unfortunately he had to sell to Bartlett, who to be fair we got to the Premier League, but bankrupted us eventually, the two Hollywood guys at Wrexham have done it right, and the owner of Accrington has the club at heart, most 3rd and 4th division owners are in it to improve their clubs, once a Championship club comes up the £ signs start ringing.

Dr Death gave us two promotions, and we made a profit every year he was with us. Sacking Horton when he did, and getting shafted by Needler were his big mistakes. Happy days though. :emoticon-0125-mmm:

Was Pearson technically an owner? Probably just about, but he didn't have his own money. He was backed by a Leeds fan who saw a quick turnover and with a view to a controlling share in Leeds.

Pearson was impressive in what he did for us, and equally more impressive by walking out of Derby financially up, but best owner ever?

He'd been set a remarkably low bar since Harold Needler.

There was once an interesting article years ago about Harold Needler using City as a very handy tax avoidance scheme when he was due to pay a lot of tax, taxes were very high in the mid sixties under Labour, by building the gym, South Stand and the floodlights and then having companies he had an interest in for the construction so in effect he ended up paying nothing, in fact in profit. He wouldn’t back Neill as much as he should have done.

Hate to mention them, but Norwich have had owners only worth around £30 million since 2004 and have sold out their season tickets for 19 years running despite the highest prices in the division and improved their training facilities to a state of the art place. They are now introducing safe standing behind the goal and extending it to the filled in area between that stand and the best stand. Wonder how long, if ever, before we have safe standing? My suggestion years ago when we were having problems that they were a similar sized club we should try to emulate brought about a meltdown in some they still haven’t come out of.

What did the club reply when you suggested safe standing?

What a silly question. Why should I suggest it? Don’t you think it has ever been mentioned? It has been discussed but got no further, which is not a surprise. Though, predictably, a police officer, who has obviously never seen safe standing, said it was not a good idea as it could mean a return to surges down the terraces and people being crushed. I expect we will not get it, or if we do it will be on a very small scale and after others have done it for some time.

Norwich have recently increased investment in their stadium and training ground, as they now have a joint owner worth $700m.

Norwich extended and improved their training ground 3 years ago. Long before the new joint owners came in. It was due to be completed before but delayed by covid. Nothing to do with them, all done under the ownership of Delia Smith and her husband. My Norwich supporting acquaintance showed me an article where a new German training aid, a 360 degree digital set up costing £750,000 had come out. Arsenal and Liverpool contacted them to say they would like to be the first in England to buy one, obviously thinking they would fall over themselves for the publicity. Sorry, you can’t be the first to have one, Norwich City have already ordered one.

Norwich need rich owners, they're up to their eyeballs in debt, and this coming season is their last for parachute payments. Also much of their debt is to outside parties, no Rover not knees ups. :emoticon-0125-mmm:

My Norwich supporting acquaintance said that things were coming to a head before the season started. He said there were rumblings of discontent amongst some supporters which was quite unusual. He thought they would have a poor season but was surprised at how well they ended up doing. They will have to start reducing costs. Which will please him as he gets incandescent at Ben Gibson getting the thick end of £40,000 a week, That Rowe lad who scored in both games agains us was on £2,100, though not for much longer if they want to keep him.

Yet they had still sold out the highest priced season tickets in the division by the end of May and have a waiting list. Wish our fans were that pissed off.<laugh>

On an individual basis I've had many pissed off seasons, still coughed up the pass money though. I'd hate to miss seeing Rico on a Saturday and midweek, oh ermm best stop now as I'm in danger of packing City in... :emoticon-0125-mmm:

I don't see what is silly about the question.

If you feel strongly about it, it sounds like a good idea and will make a big difference, then you could petition the club about it. The more that campaign, the more chance it will have of pushing it through. It seems a waste to keep your gold on here - the world needs more like you.

No point. It has already been discussed by the club. Me saying anything would not alter things. The obstacles, apart from cost, will be the SAG and police. I am confident many other clubs will have it before we get round to it if ever.
