Don’t think broja is worth anywhere near the money Chelsea are after. Seems to have lost some pace since his injury, sadly. Thought he was pretty poor tonight.. although maybe he’s still coming back to full fitness?
He's versatile, but he has played quite sparingly: 10 league starts over three years, and minutes that equate to about 15 full games over that span. He's depth (and hopefully quite cheap depth), but he doesn't really solve any problems.
I don’t think adding depth is what we should be looking to do this window. We should be looking to strengthen the first team and the current players can be “depth” if a new player replaces them. Don’t know much about Ghoddos and he may be signing as first choice in whatever position he plays. Lallana may also be being signed as first choice
At the very least they are taking up space in the squad. If Alcaraz returns to play the Stu Armstrong role and we get Downes on a permanent deal then we are most likely done in that area of the pitch. Lallana might have been signed as Armstrong replacement
I'm jesting. I take the same approach to the transfer window every time. Wait until it is over before judgment. The players we sign at this stage don't necessarily stop us from doing further business in the mext 2 months. I'll look at our activity come the end of the window and make my mind up then
Not just Broja. Chelsea seem to over-value most of the players who they're open to selling (eg Gallagher, Chalobah, Kepa). Maybe it's because they're using their own purchases - their ludicrously over-priced puchases - as the yard stick. No-one else thinks Cucurella is worth £60m. I'd happily sign Broja if Chelsea were reasonable.
It's never going to happen that way around though. Squad depth signings will obviously be the first in through the door, because they are cheaper, or even free. The first team signings are going to be more expensive, and will likely therefore take weeks of negotiating etc. I just hope we get a few of the big signings in before the first game, rather than wait til the deadline.
The Euros and Copa America will also probably mean that a lot of transfers will delayed more than normal. We might be having to wait longer for our main targets, hence also why the frees/easier deals will be done first.
With all the players we had on loan, others out of contract and a few more with only a year left this was always going to be a busy window and that’s not to mention the requirement for an increase in quality. I’d be shocked if our incomings don’t reach double figures. Not many rumours on the loan market yet either. Anyone have any wants on potential loan targets from our bloated rivals?
I guess. As long as they are working hard behind the scenes. No idea what our starting 11 will look like, makes you anxious.
Another centre back would be interesting. Either means none of the loanee centre backs are returning. Or that the back 3 is going to be the preferred formation so need additional centre backs in the squad

I'm happy to see us being linked to a CB, but Wood didn't particularly stand out for me in the Championship. He might well have had a decent season with Swansea - it's not like I was an avid watcher of their games - but generally if someone in the Championship has PL potential, they make themselves noticed. Greaves at Hull, for example. I'm happier to see the Rodon link than the Wood link.
