I read in HDM that Criterion on Hessle Road has been smartened up and reopened. Anyone dared to go in yet?
Crown and Anchor by the River Hull in Tickton re-opening too in mid July. Been closed since New Years Day this year. Always good news when a proper pub re-opens.
Do they still have the shuttle board in there? I recall pre Covid, having a very competitive game versus DBT.
Took one for the team and went in for a recce a few months ago and it wasn’t back then. Had a couple in case I’d missed it by only having a casual glance…
Closed for some time a while back and re-opened after a time. Then closed again just after Tickton Tiger had mover there and was expecting it to be his local. He will be a happy man now.
Trouble is it's too far from the main part of the village and it's down a road with no streetlights. Not enough people from the village frequent the place, just those around BATA. If they do decent food (which apparently the new owners do) they may attract more passing trade and people who walk their dogs to Eske
Used to pop in for a meal now and then. Trouble was I have to drive to get there so can’t drink. The pitfall of having a wife who doesn’t drive. Can’t beat a river or canal side setting for a pub.
Drink driving laws No one should drink drive, the law is right, but the outcome is that country pubs on roads without a large population centre struggle
We’ve popped in a couple of times thinking it would be a lovely spot for a pint overlooking the river. Unfortunately, just sat looking at some old tatty boats. It could be a lovely spot.
