Really? Haven't seen any more evidence of that than I have on my visits to Hull. Scotland is(at present) a part of the United Kingdom,it has it's problems,as do the other nations that make up the union. I'm English,proud of it,I'm also British.I'm married to a Scottish lass and I've successfully raised 4 children(all born in Glasgow).None of them are Neanderthals or scum,walking around in kilts,needle in arm,slugging copious amounts of Irn Bru and cheap whisky...Too busy working,paying taxes and providing for their own children and others who don't feel the need to work. That could be someone from Glasgow,Hull,Manchester,Birmingham,Liverpool or London....
Incidentally, Edinburgh was the only major city in Scotland that was part of an Anglo-Saxon kingdom for centuries.
Some beautiful places in Scotland. Think a lot of people make these remarks based on the rougher parts of Glasgow. Like basing opinions of England on Hackney in London or Moss Side in Manchester

Most of our cities are as well. But we have areas of great beauty as does Scotland, and they have a lot of it.
The United Kingdom is full of beautiful areas, and varied environments as well. The issue with England is the population increase in a short period of time, combined with not enough investment in regional areas, that has resulted in everywhere always being too full of ppl and the infrastructure (social and structural) not being able to handle it... Driving in the north of Scotland and walking in the Highlands (and North Yorkshire) are the two areas where you have the best chance to be alone. Makes it easier to bury the bodies.
Used to go on holiday as a kid to a tiny Hamlet called Foss, a couple of miles from Tummel Bridge, great memories. My aunty had access to a beautiful stone cottage in the middle of nowhere. As an adult the Mrs and I took our kids on holiday to Tummel Bridge Holiday Park. We visited the old cottage I used to stay in and had a lovely time apart from getting grief in the bar for being English. It was when Northen Ireland beat England in a qualifier and my son( probably about ten at the time) had an England shirt on. It was totally uncalled for. I’ve been to Edinburgh a couple of times. One good, one bad experience, although I can’t put the bad experience down to anti English sentiment. It was more of a case of me being a bit of a bell end whilst pissed and ending up getting filled in. Sterling doesn’t invoke great memories, another anti English episode of which I was totally blame free. If you ever visit Balqhuidder (Rob Roy’s resting place) venture beyond the church and there’s a foot trail. About 200 metres up that trail you’ll find a very well constructed foot bridge, complete with a shiny brass plaque. I helped build that bridge. Whilst in Balquhidder a Scottish lad in our troop,who was from Calendar, arranged a game of football against the local team. Got called an English **** a few times during that, which was nice. Maybe it was because they were playing a team full of Squaddies who were all English and were getting hammered? Been up to the Highlands a couple of times as well and loved it. So in summary, yes I’ve been to Scotland probably ten times. I have great memories of the place and ( despite some of my previous posts) find the people to be pretty much the same as us. Saying that it’s the only place( apart from Wales) where I’ve been given grief, and in the case of the Sterling incident, felt threatened just for being English. My posts probably come across as big OTT to be fair but the Tartan Army don’t half get on my tit end.
Edinburgh is one of my favourite places.. obviously highlands are stunning. Great places in all countries same as the people
I only need to travel upwards of 30 minutes North of where I live and work and I began to see a different world,I'm glad about that because travelling 10 minutes East into Glasgow City Centre has become a depressing experience...It is indeed a ****hole,as are most of the sprawling housing estates in and around Glasgow and of course the housing estates in numerous other Cities in Scotland. I blame the Scottish Government in part but the inhabitants have to shoulder a huge portion of the blame as well,people don't care anymore!! Places like Pitlochry,Aviemore,Inverness,The East Neuk of Fife,Callendar,Loch Lomond etc are stunning and lift my spirits,as do my visits to my spiritual home...Yorkshire.

The Borough of Hackney is big, it has a larger population than Hull and like all places has good and bad areas, but it’s gradually getting gentrified as has happened with many areas of London.
Chatting to a Londoner recently who said that Hackney was coming up fast...Then he said Tottenham was also on the rise and I assumed he was taking the urine!
