Didn't want Coleman at all when we got him. A few days after Gary Speed (who I really liked, not sure why) died, Coleman was on pundit duty saying how sad a loss it was and used the opportunity to beg for his job as Wales boss. Not a fan of his as a bloke, at all.
What makes you sure there are no changes in the board room? There’s talk of a readjustment with Pearlman. You would think one of the things that would be good is increased investment so an addition maybe. Other than that it has to be the recruitment of a new DOF or a restructure.
I know its an over simplification, but we need a head coach in now to give his views on our upcoming plans for the window (I am assuming we have some), the rest can wait, unless of course its the DOF which is very much strapped to the head coach and the transfer window, the boardroom **** can wait IMO
The timing is dreadful but I actually think changes in decision making are important first that means additions to the board and and at the very least a restructure or a new DOF. It may bring us a better plan and make it’s more attractive to the right coach. We don’t want a **** coach because we have a **** offer and bad decision makers.
Not sure we can wait for a re structure with the transfer window here now. Looking at our speediness in accomplishing anything, a board restructure would take until 2525
I’ve always been supportive of Speakman and think some of the criticism has been harsh. He’s done more good than bad and I think the restrictions he is working under (wages budget etc) have had more influence on the decisions than a lot of people acknowledge. Having said that, as with any business or organisation, you need different leadership skills and profiles for different stages of the plan. The work he has done building the academy back up has been valuable however it’s arguably time to look for a new DOF. If he has been managing the head coach process it is a farce to not have someone in place by now. It’s also clear we have have no defined style of play or succession plan in place. These should be fundamentals for a DOF. It is however the worst time to change that position. Needing a new Head Coach and going in to a critical transfer window. If we do replace Speakman we need someone more focused on player trading not youth development. I’d love us to be ambitious and bring in someone like Paul Mitchell. His experience from the Red Bull set up and contacts from his roles at Monaco, Spurs etc would be a huge asset. Probably unrealistic but it’s such an important role it would be worth the investment.
Just thinking.,Prehab and Upthere are both people who have insight. Not out yet but Upthere said big news will come out and Prehab saying there’s change ahead. Fairly confident in both so I think we’ll get an inkling soon whatever it is.
I’m holding onto any slight possibility of good news mate. Halfway through June and nothing, yet as soon as that final whistle went against Sheff Wed, I thought thank **** that’s over at least we will know soon enough.
If this "other news" was going to delay the appointment of a head coach then 1) why have we been interviewing and made at least 1 offer and 2) why would KLD make an announcement last week to say it's imminent? More straw clutching I'm afraid chaps.
I wonder if there is any other reason we are not making progress with a head coach.. IF (and there have been a few unauthenticated rumours that KLD wants to sell his shares) then that would make a deal of sense, but if not that, there has to be another reason that a club of our size simply cannot appoint a suitable replacement for Beale given the timeframe they have had to look at potential candidates
