My gut feeling is we don't get promoted with Heckingbottom. It's the same feeling I had with Will Grigg. He's done it once so he'll do it again. Things rarely work like that in my opinion.
I just hope the uproar if its Heckingbottom is aimed at the club / Speakman, not Heckingbottom himself. It's not the bloke's fault. He's a better manager than Beale, and may even end up a good appointment. But the process to get here is what was absolutely shocking.
Seem feeling as when we appointed parky for me, done it before, dull as dishwater, hope it’s not true but if it is I hope to be pleasantly surprised by him
Personally I'm a long way from thinking about promotion. I've reached the desperate place of fearing relegation
Managing high end international teams are for the 2nd rate or semi retired nowadays. I agree, any manager ruling themselves out is a PR mistake, but I certainly wouldnt be ruling myself in if I was a top end Premier League manager.
There isn't a manager on the market who guarantees us promotion, but there are a few names who you would expect to get us competing for a shot at the top-6 and I would include Heck in that short list.
Too hard to estimate a couple of years ahead let alone 10 years... but right now we are closer to a relegation side than a promotion one and I think that's pretty obvious. If we can't close managerial appointments we won't be able to close player ones either, frankly. Just depressing, dismal and apathetic. Speakman out.
If Hurzeler hadn't gone to Brighton then I'd have thought he'd have been right at the top of their list.
I was there mate. It was a terrible game, and only after going 2-0 down did he put Marriott and Waghorn on. They scared the life out of Villa after that. He should have had at least one on from the start and how he didnt make a change at half time I will never know. It was like that throughout the season, chances missed.
