The thing is, we don't know that's the case. It's well documented that the club runs a certain way so people in the game will know that. We've, allegedly, interviewed plenty of candidates.

I know non-league managers who wouldn't want to work that way, because it's not familiar to them. Carlton could well be of the same school of thought. But there are plenty of coaches out there who are familiar with working that way.

As I posted yesterday, there are two ways of looking at it. The I hate Speakman view, in which the club's structure is viewed as some kind of sinister restriction on the coach. Or the ambivalent to Speakman view in which the club's structure is simply a continental style structure.

I'll be honest, I've lost track of what happened at Reading last season but I really liked what I heard from Selles during his time at Southampton (despite what his record might say).

His style fits what we'd like to see as well I think. I'd be quite open to him.

An alternative view would be that when the head coach is relieved of his duties he can state "Not my fault guv, I wasn't given the players i wanted to do the job"
All coaches will eventually leave their job, if they are successful and move on to better things it's all down to my genius. If the fail, see above.

A few of my mates really want Lampard. I’m not so sure myself…

Carlton Palmer knows as much as we do, just guessing based on all the rumours flying about

Carlton Palmer is always giving opinions to outlets. About anything and everything. I just think he regurgitates rumours. I wouldnt believe he has any inside info at all tbh. Of course the rumours he heres may be reasonably accurate, or not, but he is not a sensible verification of them in my opinion.

Yeah feel pretty much the same. Did what was expected at Derby, nothing special. Good first year at Chelsea when under embargo and then poor at Everton but the club was an absolute mess behind the scenes. I'd take him over the likes of Heckingbottom but he wouldn't really excite me either.

I wouldn’t be totally against it.

Some of the clubs he’s managed have been a **** show so he’ll fit right in <laugh>

Massive name for us. I'd welcome him. But he'd need a coaching team he knows and trusts!

One of my main reservations with Lampard is that we would stop being "Sunderland" and start being "Frank Lampard's Sunderland"

Lampard is would be less inspiring for me than a Challinor for example. Just don't think he's very good at all.

Yeh I'd rather Challinor than Lampard. Neither would have a Beale affect on me but both would be disappointing.

    Almost past caring now though
