I used 25 and garage for the purposes of exaggeration, but I know of one guy that’s built an extension to his modest house where he’s got maybe 7-8 labourers in.

Wow, just seen a Tory party election broadcast.100% attack ad on Labour’s alleged £2000 per household tax increase. Not a single word about their own policies. Lots of begging to go online and read a document about the tax stuff. Strikes me that if they want to go this route they should take a few lessons from the US versions of attack ads, which are genuinely shocking.

Anyone else noticed that all Labour’s tax promises are for no rises for ‘working people’. They’ve already stupidly promised not to raise corporation tax so that leaves capital gains and possibly pension contributions. Rejoice Strolls!

Meanwhile Starmer was somewhere talking about more nursery places, obviously a good thing if they are of good quality, but he described it as “helping parents get back into the ‘labour market’”, when any normal human being addressing the relevant bit of the population would say ‘get back to work’. He’s a grey, featureless robot. No one will vote for him with hope in their hearts.

My 84 year old mum who has an odious local MP called Sir Geoffrey Clifton Brown, who has done nothing since being first elected in 1992 (ever heard of him - possibly because he has been identified as the ‘worst MP’ in terms of attending Parliament and helping constituents. **** knows why they keep voting him in) is not impressed with the realistic alternative - a Lib Dem councillor who lives at the other end of the constituency and who has championed building 400 new homes in Moreton in the Marsh, which is already in permanent gridlock and has no facilities. So she is looking forward to spoiling her ballot paper for the first time. This is a miss for all the parties as she is the definition of a floating voter, will always go with what she thinks is the best (or least worst) option, ideology free. My old man was the opposite, real old Labour despite running small businesses for decades, he couldn’t physically bring himself to vote any other way.

There are worse places to be gridlocked.

Yeah, I'd noticed that Labour are promising no tax increases for 'working people' which enables them to rebut the desperate '£2,000 for every family' Tory claim. It does allow them to raise taxes in other ways of course, but I don't expect these to be in their manifesto, which is unlikely to contain anything significant that they haven't already announced. Sigh.

We clearly need to get more Brits out of the country to balance the numbers.

In two years of Labor in federal government here in Oz, the cost of living has more than doubled.
Even the stanch Labor supporters are shaking their heads in disbelief.
We might be a large country but we have fcuk all housing available.

So what does Labor do to assist or solve our housing crisis?
All over 1 million migrants into the country per year.
Our children can't even afford the costs of a house or find an available rental, but hey, lets get some more migrants in the country!
Seriously, its gone beyond a joke.

This is the same Labor govt that promised $275 cheque for electricity to all Australians, immediately after they get elected.
The cheque is in the mail .............. the costs of electricity has more than doubled since.

Overseasee Albanese is nowhere to be seen.
Surely must be a one term government.

    :emoticon-0102-bigsm very good.

I'm sure I've posted on this thread a few times before, but I'm also a big fan of Godwin's Law. It states, that, "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1."

I also like this build, which people use: "many...discussion forums have a tradition that, when a Nazi or Hitler comparison is made, the thread is finished and whoever made the comparison loses whatever debate is in progress".

When, just after the commemorations for the 80th anniversary of D-Day, we can see neo-fascists being elected across Europe (and most likely in this country too in the form of Farage), I'd say that Godwin's Law should be suspended.

Sunak's manifesto seems to be pretty much wholly about tax cuts with no indication as to how they can be afforded.

    Didn't Truss try that?

Now Farage has had stuff thrown at him again. I wish people wouldn’t do this, it’s a pathetic way to behave.

His father in law is paying for it.

Pretty stupid of Starmer the criticise Sunak’s manifesto as ‘Corbyn-like’ in its promises, given that he campaigned in support of two Corbyn manifestos.
