Surely everyone wants possession football, just for that to jump through the gears at speed when attacking and to have an effective press. Although I love the high intensity press I also think it’s over rated because it’s so obvious to the eye, it shows effort really simply whilst other tactics aren’t as obvious. Basically it’s clear even to people that have no idea what else is going on in the game and think offside is when the ball goes out on the side of the pitch. ( stood next to a bloke that seemed to think that at Roker!)
Best delete that place from your options mate. It's no the wonder traffic and post counts have increased here over the years.
I mentioned before that I asked their fans about him (https://www.not606.com/threads/rosenior-to-sunderland.413023/page-2) and the responses are a real mixed bag, some loved him and some clearly didn’t. The comments below though were what I found most bothersome and concerning at a time when I’d desperately like, above almost anything, for our fanbase to be united (it can be a powerful force when it is): When some of you start questioning what you're seeing, he'll split your fan base by exclaiming the fans don't understand what he's trying to do etc. Somewill lap that up and look down on the others, who will continue to question it because it won't change. The rift will grow and you'll end up with constant bickering... Unless your fan base is unanimous that top of the league for own third and own half possession is a good thing. Talks a great game, he’s a great salesman. Manages to convince some people they’ve seen what he tells them they’ve seen.
The football was effective under Reid (for most of the time) and it was exciting to watch, at least for us. But I remember fans of other clubs saying we were like Wimbledon and that we were one dimensional. Personally, I'd rather see progressive, possession-based football where possible.
Left there a long time ago mate, only browse now and again, but currently it’s the worst I’ve seen it
Thing I don't get is, if it is Rosenior, why is it taking so long? Haggling over backroom staff, or maybe someone else in the frame.
It was definitely exciting at times but when Quinny was injured the wheels came off as we didn't really have the same quality forward to take his place
Reidy football was definitely more than one dimensional. Yes we would let Summerbee hit his wonderful crosses and Quinn get on the end. Or go back to front for Quinn. But we also had wonderful midfielders who could look after the ball. Clark and Schwarz were both great at what they did. We had full backs who could attack, Johnson who could turn players inside out. The team played in 2 or 3 ways. We could really dig in as well when we had to and in McCann we had one of the best CMs for the scrap. 4 very good seasons that we should remember with pride.
Don't even browse. I don't. I just get screenshots sent at odd times but even told people not to do that. Total blank.
Totally agree with you. Some of my favourite ever players were in that team with Schwartz my top man, he did so much without complaint for that team. My main point was that Quinny was the focal point and once he couldn't carry on anymore, I think Reid struggled to replicate his influence. Plus it seems that he fell out with some players which wouldn't have helped
Please please, put an end to this whole debacle if need be give it back to reidy for a year. At least he would Sack off dodds and proccy. Get it Sack off. SACKO
