->Frig knows who was singing the Canadian anthem at the GP just now. He looked like a Super Mario tribute act. :emoticon-0125-mmm:

I reckon Aunty Janice had built up a fair few reasons to really savour this moment. <laugh>

Not so visible in parliament, and at PMQ's, when the Post Office scandal came to a head. :emoticon-0125-mmm:

A gentle reminder about the no politics, no religion rule.

It's not just a whim of the mods, it was requested by the board users. I personally think it's a good thing, as it just become fractious and leaks in to other threads, but that's just my view.

If someone wants to run a poll to see if the general view of board users has changed, feel free, but until then, it still stands.

    Ta muchly.

I know I get close to the political line sometimes, but I do agree with this so have no issue with things getting deleted if need be.
Thanks to the mods as usual. Thankless task (apart from now obviously as I’ve thanked you!)

    Interesting!
I always thought it was a rule of not 606 which if we didn't comply then this board risks getting taken down?
Is that actually not the case? Is it really a rule from an earlier request from some users, supported since by our own mods?
Personally I think there should be threads on here that allow political and religious discussion, but set up so as to lessen the chances of football threads getting hijacked.

It's not a rule for the whole network. Several other forums on here have political threads and discussions on religion.

It was something requested by board users, although I confess I can't recall exactly how that came about, but I do feel it makes this board better for having it, but it's not my board, it belongs to the users.

Most boards have a similar rule, but a couple of boards have a dedicated 'politics' thread.

Though there are only a couple of them, those threads account for around 90% of all reports on this site.

Poster A states the sky is blue, and grass is green.
Poster B states no they are not.

And you want to lose the no politics/religion rule?

    Happy modding!!!

    I don't
Everyone on here can manage to hate each other quite well enough without politics and religion heightening the angst!

Apart from you being one of the few daft enough to still pay it, it's because I can't show favoritism. Can you imagine the uproar if I let some people have it for free?

I’m more than happy to talk politics and religion with anyone in the right environment. Unfortunately (or fortunately - depends how you look at it) a football forum is not a good space for this.

Why? Because any discussion quickly degenerates into pointless arguments and insults and becomes completely meaningless as no one ever changes their minds. It just creates a hate filled space, eventually everyone will get bored and no longer come on here.

Threads like Now for something completely different work well because, on the whole, they don’t get bogged down. The football stuff is fine (even when it gets really pedantic) because we all basically agree (ie support City). Politics and religion threads wouldn’t function like this, they’d just become a vile slanging match.

Ultimately I don’t care or want to care what any of the boards politics are. I know some people on here’s views are politically opposed to mine but so what? It’s about supporting City and having a bit of a laugh for me.

I like the no politics/religion rule and wouldn’t thank you for a separate dedicated thread either.
