    What's the connection with Howe?

I think this could be a very clever signing for goalkeeper. I am happy with Pope as number one for now (think he is an excellent shot stopper and a real leader at the back). Think our defence really missed him this season. Its also clear that our goalkeeping pool doesn't have much young blood in it. This guy has PL experience, is highly-rated and is young.

Why do I get the weird feeling this is exactly what Howe said?!

The more I read the more Trafford appears to be a good purchase. I guess given the low amount of money available it's about plugging holes in the squad as best they can for a year or two.

That was 12 years ago for one season.
Next our fans will be saying the same about Portsmouth and Swindon

I've got not problem with it .. if he's young then he'll get better training with better players every day... a box ticked... 15 million could triple in a few years.

You mean before Trafford was even there?

Makes sense to pick over any relegated teams particularly for young players who might be cheaper as teams are desperate to cut costs for Championship.

He'd be a reasonable signing anyway. Probably not a great one, but not terrible.

Did everyone pick up that Jacobs said Conner Coady is a cb target?

Haven't bothered listening. Jacobs hasn't had the best track record with early accuracy.

I would assume he has connections at most upper division clubs. Don't understand what point you are all trying to make.

He only thinks that players from clubs he has managed at before are worth buying and its causing issues?
He has too much influence on our transfer targets?
Someone at these clubs is breaking their contract confidentiality clauses and feeding him names of players who would be a good buy?

You all seemed to have missed what he feels is his biggest attribute as a Manager, and that is taking players and working with them on a daily basis to make them better. If we can agree that he is good at that, then it makes sense to go for young players and players that he feels have significant room for improvement, rather than established world stars.

Bring in Trafford on a 5 year amortisation = 3m a year plus wages.
Get rid of Dubravka for a few million... no residual amortisation.

Trafford - Young - Already experienced - likely to appreciate in value.
Dubravka - Old, at fault for so many goals last year. Jumped ship to Man U... Not convinced he;s not a bit of a disruption TBH.

I see no issue whatsoever with the Trafford signing.
