I don't think so, he's turned down both Plymouth and Birmingham apparently, both pretty cushy jobs. Birmingham have money to burn apparently and Plymouth you just have to stay up.
Do wonder if Jansen had already turned us down before KLDs statement, and that was the reason for it. Press have been a few days behind everything so far if the Still stuff is anything to go off.
The Jansen stuff that has been reported this afternoon is clearly from a club briefing in my opinion.
This is what I think. He has been told thanks but no thanks, so as a face saving exercise, a statement has been circulated inferring that it was his decision not ours.
im not as sure this one is. Only one place reporting it (the two journos from the echo). They could well have done some actual journalism and found out
Could well be, but when Walker, Downie, and the Echo tweeted that Still was out of the running, that all came at once, similar to this, but even that was a few days out of date if I remember rightly.
I find it odd this comes out on a Sunday, after the update from the club on Friday. I personally wouldnt use the words hopefully imminent on Friday, if on Sunday you are going to leak several candidates being pursued. Something doesnt add up. Personally I think the club are dampening Jansen now, so an announcement isnt met with any whinging the new guy isnt Jansen. I do think though the several targets thing is bollocks. Will be announcing someone soon imo. If we are now at the persuing targets then folk can have free reign at criticising in my book. Or, in an alternative universe, a coach like Potter has realised he isnt getting back in at Brighton and has made the call to us. Or Cooper isnt getting Leicester. I wouldnt blame the club for booting Jansen for someone like them. They will want to be in somewhere this summer.
Everyone's opinion is valid but I see it very different to you. Rosenior is a very bright, young coach who has done well in both of his jobs to date. He would instantly get respect from the players due a fantastic playing career and his experience of managing in the Championship. Maric, for example, has never had a head coach role and would be a massive risk. Also, we need to get away from the idea that coaches have fixed systems. Rob Edwards played possession football at Forest Green, he then 'failed' at Watford, and went to Luton where he has been very successful with a far more direct style as it suited the players Luton had. The modern game requires flexibility and tactical awareness. I think Rosenior would be a great appointment and far less risky than a few you have mentioned.
Protests suggested on RTG now As much as I think the local journalists are a waste of space, the BBC have reported it too
I’ll put it out there that there’s a chance, a small one, that Still is back in the picture, hence the Jansen news. if (big if) the club have leaked that Jansen is out, you have to think they’re confident that the outcome will be seen as positive by fans. Otherwise why leak it? Makes no sense
Nixon reckons 6 figure compo for Cifuentes. Also that we have had 7 people sat on the interview panel.
I’m thinking more of the Challinor and Robinson stories being quashed. It was these same journos and the BBC as it is (I think) today.
