Point taken, I over reached with the generalisation of creating alarm. Different opinions are welcome, but you will admit a few have pulled you up for constant negativity?
Ha, just posted the above ^ Edit: about Cirkin and Hume. Imagine Huggins being fit in that system too! I'm getting way ahead of myself now!
Ah yeah the funny part is. Brian writes a weekly column. Here are some quotes from his column on the dismissal of Jansen: “In his weekly column in the AZ podcast of the Noordhollands Dagblad, columnist Brian Wijker is surprised this time about the criticism of the dismissal of AZ coach Pascal Jansen.” “Football-loving Netherlands has been divided into two camps since last week. Either you understand that AZ has said goodbye to Pascal Jansen, or you call sending the trainer away a ridiculous decision. I dare say about the latter camp that they have not watched a single AZ match in recent months. Not in its entirety, anyway. But they do want to say something about it.” “You get the idea that AZ has to keep itself small from the outside world. That they should only intervene if they are empty-handed in May. “ “‘Arguments such as 'they have sold all their strongholds' and 'Jansen has overperformed with AZ for years' can also be discarded. Overall Jansen has done an allright job, but leaves a shaky team without self-confidence. And to use Tijjani Reijnders as an example: he was almost a player for rival FC Twente a year before his departure for Milan. Because his coach just wouldn't play him. Apparently everyone from the Jansen camp has forgotten that.” “The good news is that Jansen is apparently known as a top trainer among the outside world. He was granted that and will hopefully get him a nice club in England. Because that's where he hopes to get to.” “But to get this AZ back on track in the short term, in addition to Sierksma, he also needs Harry Houdini and Hans Klok. And even then, five months may not be enough to repair the damage.” “Fortunately, there is always another camp that knows what is best for the club. And I take that camp a little more seriously.” Ofcourse there are different opinions. And like i said we have had ups and downs during his time. He for sure has potential as coach, and is very willing to learn and develop himself. But when people (partly also the media) create an image of a super attacking coach who has been "very" succesfull at AZ. I dont really agree. Semis in the CoL is amazing, but you have to remember we had a super easy group and bascially only beat Lazio (which where 2 very good games from us, also mainly due to Jansens approach to those games) and Anderlecht after pens. A 5th place is below par for us, 4th right about where we belong and then this szn he got sacked before we really fell down in the standings (also after 2x extra time in the cup against amateurs with our best XI). Without Corona, Slot was leading us to a first place. Jansen hasnt done bad at all, but people always felt there was more to get out if it. Both in results as in playing better football. But i also have to agree, he hasnt been helped by the recruitment, this year especially.
This basically. I’m not saying it’s nailed on its him I’m just saying at such low odds for it to keep shortening is a good indication it’s going to be Jansen.
Ha, class! The two faced little bastard! Don't worry, I'm under no illusions that Jansen plays aggressive, attacking football though (all the stats show it's not really the case)
Ah yeah this is a good way to show you guys. You have the red haired guy. He is our number 10. He is basically playing as 2nd striker. You wont find him giving assists, do dribbles or score a long ranger. Hes just ghosting the box to score goals, having like max 20-30 passes a game. Also works very hard off the ball. But can be very frustrating when you need some football in the middle. The fullbacks with Kerkez en Sugawara are a main source of crosses, the team create space for them to get the ball high on the pitch. Also especially Kerkez makes overlaps to distract the fullback for our leftwinger (Karlsson), to have that extra little bit of time and space to cut inside and score some bangers from range. That can be very deadly if executed well Our striker Pavlidis (goat) likes to roam all around to pitch and do basically everything. Win duels, score goals or help in the build up.
I haven't. I've just nothing better to do with my day than take a deep dive into everything about him.
Yes, but those people have decided I'm someone I'm not and appear to be basing their opinions on that. I'm happy to join in the positivity when there's something to be positive about. I'd like to do a lot more of that, which is why I criticise where necessary. You've got to cut the grass to enjoy the lawn, not just blindly hope you'll go out one morning and the grass will be short (I've just cut the grass, maybe it's a ****e metaphor) Not aiming this at you, just a general comment - be positive about everything and everyone, for all I care. Just don't try to force anyone else to join in and don't try to start fights or exclude other opinions because you don't like them.
I must say though, having watched Sunderland for the last six months or so, then watching that video and seeing you consistently having 4, 5, 6 or even 7 players in the final third or in and around the box looks pretty utopian!
Tbf seeing his record in Europe he can play however he wants for me in the second tier of English football . Possesion based football is the norm now
I'm waiting to tell the missus that I've only been saying yes to patio extensions, sun rooms, cabins etc. because it's less of the bastard grass to cut. Hot tub next apparently.
Yeah but dont forget. Part of the reason Jansen's stats look so good. We were playing some close to amateur like teams in Europe last year. Those are the first good bit of games you see. Tuzla city (relegated in Bosnia) Dundee (relegated in Scotland) Gil Vicente (bottom half Portugal) Appolon Limasol (cyprus) Dnipro (ukraine) Vaduz is from Liechtenstein (second division in Switserland) This year we barely beat a team from Andorra and needed pens against Brann from Norway after 2 draws. And in the group stages blew a 3-0 lead at half time to Zrjinski.
