I messaged a couple of people on here and on X yday (a couple of popular accounts that people like to talk about on here) that I heard there was 2nd interviews between 2 candidates. These were due today. Maybe the statement is timely after this process ?
At least we know it’s coming to some form of conclusion. I reckon it’ll be the end of next week. Hopefully it was discussed in the appointment process about who are targets are to come in and who’s out the door. We need to hit the ground running
Well it depends, if it is imminent then you needn't say anything, it's hours or a day or 2 from being announced. If it's a week away then what they've said is fine, they've acknowledged the patience from the fans and in a way restarted the clock in our brain a little bit.
Nah they wouldn't say it's imminent on their page if it was a while away. Especially with it being reported it's down to two with Jansen and Rosenior last night
The club can’t win, make a statement it gets pulled apart, don’t make a statement they get crucified.
I had thought it could be today (as I have every day for weeks!), but based on that statement alone I think we're looking at Monday at the earliest.
Or 1st July Time people grew a pair and chill. Clubs in brilliant hands, cannot be happier. Hhhaaa'wwwwaaaaayyyyyy the lads
TBF, in a business sense, that's the next working day ... ... perhaps he's waiting for the bank to clear his cheque
Aye but he's not saying it's imminent, he's saying he hopes to appoint someone imminently, which is very different. In other words, he wants to appoint someone soon. He's not necesserily saying an announcement will be soon. What he wants and what will happen are different things. Like, he wanted Still, but Still has ****ed off to Lens. Either way, I suspect it'll be the middle of next week.
AZ always plays a 433. At AZ he has always chosen a working number 10 (Dani de Wit) over players who are creative (but maybe more risky in possesion). Which made it hard at times to break down defensive opponents. In possesion loss it would be a 442 with the 2 upfront doing the pressing. Usually not very extreme pressing or high up the field. Fullbacks have always been the DNA of AZ, trying to overlap, so that would be something he is gonna try at Sunderland too. I would say his strong points are the compactness of his teams. Every player has to do his defensive work. He usually starts building a formation from the back. He has talked often about "impulscontrol", which means that you sometimes have to delay a pass to find a better opportunity. Another one is the importance he gives to personal relations. He has used a methapfore about every player having an emotional bankaccount with Jansen. He doesnt take a guy of after 3 bad games (if the player does what Jansen asks from him in terms of work ethic and tactical instructions). That part has always been a thin line for me. On the one hand you want to build patterns and confidence, but you also want to be dynamic. And give the bench player a fair chance aswell to play themself in the XI. That wasnt always the case. Leading to players demanding a move. Also Reijnders had to wait very long for his opportunity. Luckily he did get it in the end, look at him now . And dont forget. Jansen also brings the knowledge from AZ with him. I know we arent the biggest or most exciting club in Europa. But with a small budget we have build a very good Academy and grown a lot as club. And created a good foundation of being after a bankruptcy not even 15 years ago. Playing in Europe every year, and developping some good players in recent years. (Maybe not Altidore )
