Mick Lynch never fails to impress, he certainly has the Tories and reformers weighed up and calls a spade a spade.
Don’t forget the finger print and face scan that is coming in as well, if I’m not mistaken. There’s going to be big queues and a lot of moaning, led by the Brexit supporting media. Like you I have a permanent resident identity card, which I show with my passport when re-entering Spain, with the border police more interested in the card than the passport.
In 2004 South Park pointed out that voting in a nation where both options are awful is not really a choice. Nothing has changed!
All I’m saying is “support” is a strong word. However I will concede that I consider them to be the lesser of 3 evils when compared with the Tories and labour in terms of destroying the country further. The only problem I have with them so far is that they have so far been quiet on the foreign wars and domestic policy. If they were to also commit to striving for peace and negotiations (instead of antagonising Russia and backing genocide against Palestinians then they would have my vote 100%).
Utterly depressing for the US that the option is between Trump and Biden. Two horrible people and both too old to be in such a position
Fair enough, have to agree to disagree they are the lesser evil. But I do think that the UK has enough issues internally that should be the main focus for this election. Though I do completely agree that western foreign policy has been stoking these wars. It was nothing short of entirely predictable how the Eastern European war would drag on and how Israel would react. Tragic how quickly other peoples lives drop in meaning in favour of idealism.

The Sunak camp are just so, so bad at this thing https://twitter.com/pippacrerar/status/1798839143600107995?s=46&t=f0hgNyKSvvOD5qjGLJhsXQ
Came here to post this. It's hard to imagine easier positive PR than being visible and looking solemn during the D-Day commemorations. A decent chunk of the incumbent advantage is that you get to do those things and then everyone says "wow, look at him, he's standing there doing basic prime minister things as the prime minister, what a man". To somehow turn that into a scandal is truly impressive.
It's just a disastrous own goal. It's several own goals. Have to assume the PM himself pushed this through because no sane PR professional is allowing the PM to leave the 80th anniversary D Day commemorations (probably the last with personnel who served in attendance) to double down on The Big Lie. I'm not a Conservative voter or a PR specialist, but if I was employed by them there's just no way you can let the PM do this. Other factors that make it incredibly stupid: - The interview won't air until Wednesday anyway, so there's a six-day embargo by which time the narratives will have developed - Not only did Sunak pass up all the PR opps, he conceded them straight to Starmer - Starmer is now able to push out campaign content speaking to world leaders, heads of state and the King - Starmer now has a new attack line as he can highlight that Sunak half-arsed it - King Charles (who had been withdrawn from public commitments due to cancer) reportedly moved his treatment to attend this event - The PM's camp has completely gone to ground and hasn't even got a line ready to push back and try to spin this
I'm really looking forward to how they try to spin it. There are really only two at least partially workable options: - The PM was pulled away for something EXTREMELY IMPORTANT AND PRIME MINISTERIAL. Probably saved the world. Can't really talk about it. He also managed to fit in an interview because he's just that efficient. - Complete, unreserved groveling. Some staffer who already planned to take a job elsewhere throws themselves on the sword. They spam B-roll of Rishi looking at gravestones for the next two weeks. What will almost certainly happen: double down and somehow make it an even bigger scandal.
I swear you and Os don’t read any of this. The 50 experts never denied the authenticity of the emails. They said it was suspicious that the emails happened to be on a laptop that Guiliani, of all people, got his hands on. They went on to say it was quite possible the emails are indeed real. They did say the laptop being a plant was a good way to get this quite likely hacked Russian intel into the public domain. But they never said it was fake. Just read it. “We want to emphasize that we do not know if the emails, provided to the New York Post by President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, are genuine or not and that we do not have evidence of Russian involvement,” The guy who keeps stoking this up is Jim Jordan. This is the same Jim Jordan, aka Trump’s lapdog, who fought hard to disavow the very clear Russian interference when Hilary Clinton’s laptop was hacked by Russians to influence the election. The guy is a snake. The story is being run by right wing news channels and nobody else. Why? And why are none of the right wing channels accurately reporting what the experts said? Biden is allowing justice to take place. His son will not be pardoned. Trump would pardon his kids in a heartbeat. All the information on the laptop is with the intelligence services. What exactly does this laptop prove that is worse than the things Trump has done???
Feel it's worth noting: when they talk about the 'laptop', there isn't actually a physical laptop. What there was, instead, was a cloned hard drive in Guiliani's possession, which he said that he got from a computer technician, who in turn stated that he believed it was Hunter Biden who dropped off the laptop from which the HDD was cloned, but couldn't be certain because he is legally blind. Forensic analysis showed that data was both added to and removed from that cloned HDD long after Biden was to have dropped it off: https://ddosecrets.com/wiki/Hunter_Biden_emails So, yeah: four years later, it very much appears that it is a legit cloned copy of a hard drive belonging to Hunter Biden, and the vast majority of emails are accurate. The details of how they ended up with it remain incredibly sketchy. It also appears that some tampering occurred, though it doesn't appear to have been extensive. But all of those things quite understandably led nat sec folks to suspect ratfucking before the cryptography on the emails was complete, because the story of its provenance was -- and remains -- just incredibly suspicious.
The same Rishi Sunak who is prepared to take the U.K. out of the European Court of Human Rights, if it threatens his execrable Rwanda policy? Why is anyone surprised that he disrespects the generation that liberated Europe from fascism?
Sunak says sorry. Apologising this morning, he said that "on reflection, it was a mistake not to stay in France longer - and I apologise". On reflection! If he doesn't understand the priority here and needed to reflect on his actions he shows yet again how unfit for purpose he and his apology for a government is.
A completely worthless apology. Those amazing men, all now in their late 90’s or early 100’s, deserve respect from their political leaders, as they remember their fallen comrades. What they don’t need is grovelling from a self-serving scumbag like Sunak. On a brighter note, this incredible false step may even have alienated some of the Tory hard core electorate.
One of the largest sources of disinformation over the past 25 years, Alex Jones' InfoWars, appears to be no more. He has agreed to liquidate the company in bankruptcy to satisfy the $1b+ debt he owes to the families of murdered schoolchildren that he defamed for years. It existed mostly as a vehicle to sell highly dubious supplements and doomsday prepper products, but was responsible for the mass marketing of a host of extremely corrosive and often straight-up ridiculous conspiracies, from 9/11 to Pizzagate (for those mercifully unaware, the belief that Democrats run a Satanic cabal that harvests adrenochrome from kidnapped children in the basement of a pizza parlor) to the idea that the government was turning frogs gay. A lot of recent conspiracy theories, like QAnon, can trace their lineage to the stuff Jones pushed. According to his own words in his divorce proceedings, he didn't believe any of it, it was just a performance to make money. And now a court-appointed trustee gets to spend the next couple years trying to ensure that he doesn't get to keep any of that money. It's a good day.
Rishi told us he was a Saints supporter, come the biggest game in a decade and he doesn't put in an appearnce, says it all really...
