I’m just pointing out that I think we over hype and big up our young players out of all proportion. He may or may not make it, we just have to wait and see. Gelhardt is the precautionary tale m.

We got top money for him but he’s had one good season in the championship at Sunderland last year who didn’t exactly set the world alight (apart from beating us), he’s not playing premier league football. Yet.

Squad selection for Championship games only (not including play off games)

Academy players highlighted in green (sorry Emu, but I don't count Rutter as an academy player)

19 of the 36 players selected at some stage into the match squad last season, have come through either the under 18 or under 21's, with 10 of those selected for the match squad on 20 or more occasions

10 of those 19, played the equivalent of 10 games between them all season.

Not including goal keepers, Liam Cooper was named in the squad the most whilst not being given any game time, with 23 selections. Followed by Cresswell with 21, Gelhardt with 19 and Poveda with 15.

Anthony made the most appearances from the bench with 29. Followed by Joseph with 20, Bamford 18, and Gnonto 17.

Ampadu and Rodon completed the most games from kick off to final whistle with 44 and 40 respectively. Archie Gray was next with 32.

Summerville was the player who was subbed the most, a total of 29 games. Followed by Rutter 24, Kamara 22, and James 20.

Cody Drameh has the distinction of being the only one of our players who didn't start a game and yet was also taken off in a match
