If Still was it and his agent is playing us off we need to be decisive elsewhere and leave him to the club with no budget.

Just because it’s taking so long doesn’t mean they didn’t have some sort of plan.
For all we know they have a long list of people who they were interested in and don’t want to get this wrong (and so they shouldn’t)

we seem to be labouring under the misconception that we are thinking of a target, going for them and then thinking of another one.

    I fully agree.

I personally think there is a rush, we need to be prepared for the season.

We finished 16th, let’s not pretend there isn’t more work to be done. We also going to have a slow market caused by the Euros.

I reckon the new head coach is already in place and they're just timing the announcement to coincide with the kit launch.

"Here's our brand new hummel home shirt, modelled on the iconic 88-91 kit!!

And please welcome back head coach, Steve Bruce"

I'm going to make a bold prediction that there will be some news today about our new head coach.
There I've said it, nice to get the day off to a positive start.

Of course there is a caveat. I've no idea what that news might be but we will hear something :emoticon-0100-smile

And therein lies the problem. It must be incredibly difficult to succession plan in this business, there are so many short term variables. The days of seamless transfer from Shankly to Paisley to ***an....or Greenwood to Lyall.... with no change in philosophy or methodology are long gone in the modern world. I wouldn't mind betting Man City were thinking Pep to Arteta,no problem,....only to get undone.
It's up to the club to establish the philosophy and recruit the people to enact it. Unfortunately though,we could have a list as long as your arm of potential appointments as and when it becomes necessary, but that list could evaporate within weeks as all the other factors come into play.
I think that's what happened to us in the aftermath of Beale leaving. Targets we may have had as available, suddenly became unavailable...or at least unavailable for the time being.... and we've had to redraw the list, make fresh approaches and be patient...( something us fans don't really understand!)
In the face of the ever increasing barrage of criticism towards KS and the Board,it may be necessary for us to reflect that it might not be quite as easy as we think it is.

Genuinely getting concerned that they're going to use it to sugar coat some horrible news.

I've been very defensive of KLD and even Speakman to some extent, but I'm getting to the point now where I feel this is dragging.

But I suppose Burnley haven't got anyone yet, neither have Leicester. Don't know what to think, to be honest.

To pick up on one point in your post.
The ideal would be to develop our own coaches so that we have someone ready to step into the role of Head Coach. If we do this correctly we will lose coaches as they are poached by other clubs but that should result in a slow influx of new ideas as different staff move through the ranks whilst retaining a central ethos of how we wish to play as a team. It also means that training would not be boring as new ideas and approaches would be brought in on a regular basis.
Unfortunately this will take many years to develop and cost quite a lot in time and money. In the modern game, i would contend, time and patience would be the biggest factor against implementing such a scheme.

Im in the same camp as you, its def dragging on and will only be worth it if we nail it - which of course we might

I try to not get too up or down until the appointment has been made, that way i can then decide whether its been worth the wait or not. I think if it is Still then hes clearly been at the top of our list, top of that succession plan everyone is mentioning and the club have gone all out for him

I also get folks frustrations over this though as it doesnt look good at the minute
