Basically on my calculations we need to raise somewhere between £60m - £95m in the next 12 months, depending on how much Red Bull invested.

Have RB actually made an investment too? Didn't realise. Thought it was just a shirt deal. That's what happens when you're internet-deprived on a cruise ship (unless you want to pay ~€30 a day!). So is this investment a purchase of new shares (i.e. new money in), or has someone/thing sold them some of their shares (new money in, same value old money out)? Anyone know? Huge difference.

They are also a minor share holder.

If I had to guess, I would say percentage sold at a preferential rate in return for a larger shirt deal as the shirt deal can be classed as income against FFP

I think the true answer is, no one outside of RB and the 49er's know for sure. The official line seems to be sponsorship and small investment.
The one thing that seems consistent is that it's the biggest deal in EFL history. There have been all sorts of figures thrown around too, anything from £200-£300m over 3 yrs, which seems ridiculous as 49ers only paid £170m to takeover the club
The one I've read which seems more believable is £16m per year, rising on promotion, but not sure what they get for that.

But the “investment” is immaterial. The shirt sponsorship deal is key as I understand things. We are not short of investment or capital, we just can’t spend it because of FFP or whatever the latest cow droppings are. This is Man City’s massive loophole. FFP (whatever) is based on income v expenditure not owners wealth so, shirt sponsorship is genuine income. Man City’s wealth is unquestionable but they can’t just spend it so they create huge “sponsorship” deals to prove income v expenditure.

If we (any club) could prove sponsorship (of any kind) to the tune of, let’s say, £500 million PA not linked to the owners investment, it would be genuine income and would allow massive expenditure legitimately. If I am wrong here btw, Aski, Gombawn etc please say.

So, obviously, RB want their pound of flesh. Image / Marketing Rights etc are so much more than we can conceive (who’d have thought numb skulls could be millionaires just by making arses of themselves on Tik Tok or You Tube?), they see the win in the short term. The 49’s are no mugs and want to give their investors a big return when they flip the shares (and they will). RB will be lining up a full takeover, or making themselves so important in the deal it increases their investment multi times over.

So, when this all started, I had a bit of a heavy heart. I’ve loved Leeds since I was a little boy in the early seventies but tbh, I can’t think of any owner that has cared like I do and, who’s the fool?

I think it was Norway who posted a day or two ago that he has decided it’s a good thing, well, do you know what, I agree with him :emoticon-0148-yes:

Ben said the other morning RB investment is brilliant and I replied careful what you wish for. Think of our history, colours, stadium name etc and he looked at me like I am dumb. I don’t think I am dumb but, maybe life has just moved on quicker than I have <laugh>

We might all yearn for sock tags, a simple white kit, mud bath pitches and no VAR but, while our history is rich with something to really love, others are making their own histories through sheer wealth. It’s criminal that I will be 57 this year and we have won the FA Cup once - think about that, it’s quite sobering. Hell, the way things are going, Bournemouth or Brighton (or Man City come to think of it) could have richer histories than us. In which case, I really have wasted (I have in many ways) 50+ years of my life.

Still, it’s not all despair, Marcos has a plan :emoticon-0176-smoke

If we only want the right kind of owner, like Dave who owns the Carpet Warehouse in Beeston and we want to stay at ER until it is a tourist attraction like the Colosseum, and we only want a white home kit and yellow away kit (albeit that is a bit of history made to suit us) and we want to compete at the highest level in our league and be in Europe (odd, I thought we’d left), the answer is simple. Why don’t we just apply to join the Dutch or Belgian League? We’d be as authentic there as any of our current multi title winning clubs in the EPL <whistle>

I think given City now sueing the pl, we can see where this is all heading. All charges will be ultimately dropped against city if they drop theirs. FFp will have then become a bigger joke than var. Top level footie is finished. Im not that bothered anymore. If we're ever back in pl I will watch as an interested fan but can't see there being more passion than that. Even all the talk of players ins and outs, Im not fussed who comes or goes really
