I think if we were to look at a CH then one of the main qualities I would look for would be someone with pace because that is an area we lack, apart from Alese and Pembele.
Troy Parrott is doing very well on loan this season. Just scored his 19th in 32 games for a relegation threatened side. Him and Mubama could be canny options up top for us
To put the eredivise into some sort of context, Jozy Altidore scored 39 goals in 67 games for AZ Alkmaar. He scored 1 in 42 games here.
For every Jozy there’s a Bergkamp or a Suarez though. Some of the absolute prime talent has also come from that league.
That's fair, but if you look at Parrott's record previous to this loan it is hardly prolific, 13 goals in 104 league appearances.
Just watched the highlights of the Papa John's cup final. There's a hell of a difference in quality between the players who turned out that day and the team, squad, that we have today. We've come further than some people may think. Yes, before anyone comments it is a low bar but the principle stands. At least for me.
He has scored a hat-trick. Imo for a player as young as parrott there can be nothing but good coming off the back of a high goal scoring season. He will have plenty of confidence. And he’s the type of striker who would suit us
Some good chat on here today. Enjoyed the read. I was pondering myself which of our current players might step up this year. I think it is a big season for Alese. He has to prove he can maintain fitnes for me. If he can I think he can add options at the back. I prefer him central and could give us a real 3 centre back option. I hope Cirkin comes back strong as well. He is a premier league left back in my opinion. Then I remain so excited about Pembele still. Pace, talent, attacking threat. He could be anything. I think if those 3 kick on we could be a very different proposition. In midfield I think we will see a very different Jobe. I agree with those saying he could be a 9, but I think he may play 1 more season in midfield yet. I think he could be a real old fashioned 8 and get in the box late and cause mayhem. I would bet his fitness level goes up a huge amount after this year. I just cant wait to see how Rigg develops next season. He will nail down a spot somewhere in that team. Then I have high hopes for Mundle to have a breakthrough season. He looks a player to me and I know the Spurs coaches loved him. Up front? Well I just cant see any of ours making the difference. Sadly. Rusyn possibly as an impact player off the bench? He just doesnt look like a CF. Hemir has to up his effort for me, he seemed a bit lightweight. Again young lads can be overawed by the physicality of mens football so he has time. I have not referenced some players who I hope prove me wrong, but who I think may prove not quite up to it. Triantis I just think is short of the level required. Hjlede scared me last year when he played to be honest. Ekwah frustrates the life out of me, talent in abundance, but application? Adil I like in patches, but I do think his decision making is frustrating at times. I pick on those because I think I might well be proven wrong, and I hope I am. But they have some points to prove in my opinion. I still think we are short though. I would be looking for 2 CFs. I would want 1 more deep lying midfielder, ideally an experienced one in there. I would definitely buy another CB as well. I think we need to improve the backup keeper as well, I dont fancy seeing Patto out for 6 weeks at the minute. Anyway, waiting to hear if my application for the head coach is goimg anywhere . In all seriousness I would love the chance to coach some of our players. Rigg has me drooling at what he can be. Oh, and if I were coach, I would love work 1-1 with Roberts for a while. He has ridiculous ability and I dont think it takes much to get him on the right track. Adding a bit of simplicity to his decision making is all it takes for him I think.
Also in his last year at Spurs. Could get him for a low fee I think. Him and Mubama would be nice options to have
I like Parrott. He's had some bad loans in the championship but he's been excellent this year. As you said before he'd be a good fit.
Parrott is a talented lad, ive always liked him but hes more of a false 9 - drops deeper to link play rather than 1 to lead the line Id be happy if we got him but i also want a championship ready striker who has a bit of presence about him Mika Biereth is a player of interest, done well this season, puts himself about and leads the line well Lots of interest in him across Europe tho, i believe he is out of contract ** he has year left on his deal so no chance we will sign him unless as sell players **
Not out of contract, but a top player. I think Arsenal will cash in rather than loan him though so unless we get a quick sale I can't see us getting him.
I wouldn't take less than 20m personally. There's a lot of potential in there. If the team improves and he improves with it, there's no reason he can't double his goal tally next year as a forward.
I would rather have Jobe stay here another season and see how he does cause don't think he's ready for the Premier League
Hopefully he stays, we get promoted and he gets a huge move and we pocket 50 million. Few big ‘ifs’ there mind.
