Yep you should change your name to pricewise after that tip! I got him at 16's in the morning and was delighted to see when he was a 10's
Well done to those who dug out Curruthers, great pick. I don't know what to take from the race to be honest - Great Endeavour and Wymott are clearly the improvers but with featherweights were still found wanting. Planet of Sound is probably the one to follow - 11st 2lb and stayed on well after getting tapped for toe 3 out. The one that throws questions over the result is the performance of Fair Along - this one is totally exposed and finished a country mile behind Bensalem in the old B Hills chase, he gave Nina a great ride Saturday but this one is a month short of his 10th birthday and is in his 6th season chasing so is hiding very little from the handicapper. As for Wayward Prince and 1833, disappointing doesn't get close....
Well done to all those on Carruthers at the weekend. Was named incidentally after dear old Lord Oaksey’s fictional butler who he always used to blame whenever late for a function or appointment despite the poor chap not even existing! I think though that the main point to bear in mind re Carruthers and the future is that his revised rating is going to be crucial to any further success. Won at Newbury as his mark had crashed to just 146 (ran in the heat last term off 156) but had been beaten in 5 previous handicaps when rated higher. To me the one to take out of the contest was Wymott. Stayed on in most eyecatching manner and to me has ‘Grand National’ written all over him. If his current mark of 144 can be preserved then I would expect him to go very close at Aintree next April. Unbelievably you can get 50/1 for Wymott in that race. Should connections show some commitment to that contest then I'd recommend leaping in, with both feet, at those odds.
Have the feeling the ground at Aintree in April would be too firm for Wymott Sir Barney - it was like the M62 this year
I thought the Scottish Grand National winner Beshabar ran a cracker of a race. Anything 4 miles or further is right up his alley. Any idea what he'd carry in the GN?
around 11 stone of he keeps his current rating and the same quality of last year lines up. im eyeing up wayward prince in the 2013 national.will be in his 3rd season by then.
I've always thought Wayward Prince as a National horse but he did very little on Saturday to encourage me, I'm sure he's better than that showing. There's also a line of thought that he would have a stronger chance in 2012 as the handicapper would have less to go on, he's probably a very good horse and with another years form in the book his mark would increase
Can't really see him being better than grade 3 as I think he will always be around the 150 s . SO with 2013 in mind he will be 9 with more experience and probably on roughly the same mark as now . It was reported to the stewards that he was never travelling and was pulled up so can cross a line through that run.
