I don’t even know the names of a lot of the wealthy people . If someone has made a fortune , and they’ve got it all legally , good luck to them . It’s HOW some wealthy people gain their wealth that infuriates / sickens me And if you think I HATE the tories because lots are wealthy , you’re totally wrong .
Misdemeanors are crimes. People go to jail for misdemeanors all the time, so even if Trump were guilty of 34 misdemeanors rather than 34 Grade E felonies, he would still be a convicted criminal.
You can be an arsehole with money or without. But having money really ups your arsehole capabilities!
It’s still an inconsistent stance to take. Picking and choosing what counts as mainstream media as it suits depending on whether they agree with you or not. It’s pretty ridiculous actually. Also - CNN isn’t insanely left wing biased. They were more left leaning but have moved more centre (including firing Don Lemon). But of course you don’t actually know that. I am not really prepared to listen to someone who exclusively consumes right wing content and refuses to ever acknowledge when they are wrong when they say “evaluate your thinking”. You’ve never once showed even the slightest inclination to evaluate your thinking or even diversify your sources so your request is not reasonable.
Thousands of threats against the jurors who convicted Trump from the Make America Garbage Again people. No hypocrisy there. You know, crying about the law while breaking the law…
Trump has done something illegal! A jury has just found that to be the case. And you have moved the goalposts to say “truly illegal”. He’s also done lots of illegal things already - but this is the first criminal one to stick. The rest are all civil but he has still been found guilty. So you are being extremely dishonest here Biden hasn’t been found guilty of anything but you say he isn’t fit to president. Trump absolutely have - civil and criminal - but you don’t say the same. It’s more inconsistency and the reason why I can confidently predict that if this were Biden you would be cheering this to the rafters rather than moving the goalposts and pretending that it isn’t actually illegal If the “it was only a misdemeanour” point was valid then Trump’s highly paid legal team would have presented that as an argument. Instead you are just parroting the talking points of right wing (and exclusively right wing - you never mention anything else) talk shows and opinion pieces. Any hatred for the wealthy would be in the form of how they use their wealth to escape justice. Like Trump has done. His expensive lawyers allowed this to keep being delayed otherwise this might have been tried when he wasn’t running for president. But let’s not forget he declared super early as a candidate so that he could claim any legitimate proceedings against him were political in nature. It’s all shenanigans and you are one of the many to eagerly get down on their knees and lap up everything he said
Trump will need to be careful about making sure he isn’t perceived to be insighting any of this. I don’t think he has so far. He’s stuck to the judge and the prosecution rather than the jury.
I agree Trump is by no means innocent on the legal front. I didn't like all the "Lock her up" stuff back in 2016. The point is that what's happening now threatens to make this an established part of political life in the US. People wonder why our politicians are so awful. Well I'd say this sort of thing is likely why. It's an appalling life to live and in my opinion you'd have to have something wrong with you to want to be part of it. Are they being complacent? You tell me. What is the specific threat he poses? How would or could he aim to "destroy democracy"? How would he achieve these anti-democratic aims he supposedly has? Because, to look at the one specific thing you've mentioned, he'd need to amend the constitution to allow him to serve more than two terms as president and the chances of him being able to amend the constitution are basically zero.
He egged his supporters on to storm the Capitol as part of a plot to overturn the result of the election and re-install him as president. If he wasn't wildly incompetent, it might well have succeeded. The threat he poses to democracy isn't some vague notion, it's a thing that has already happened.
I think Trump will be dead in the next 4 years anyway. The man lives on Maccies and Eggos, has the complexion of a failed liver and allegedly has a serious drug habit (according to many, many sources).
Okay, cool. The memory thing isn't really the relevant point, though the press conference where he confused the Mexican and Egyptian leaders was... interesting to say the least. They didn't find nothing. There was evidence he knowingly retained classified information, but they doubted anyone could prove the material he knew he had in 2017 was the same as the material he had in 2022. I'm not saying he should have been charged, I don't care either way, but to say they found nothing is just wrong. What? Hunter Biden will go on trial this week in Delaware on federal gun charges. In September he will go on trial in California on federal tax charges. I've no idea what Fox News may or may not have to do with that or how he could "take them to the cleaners" in a criminal trial.
Absolute rubbish. January 6th could have led to a lot of things but not Trump remaining President. No chance. If you believe that you're living in Cloud Cuckoo Land. If he died in the next 4 years that wouldn't surprise me at all.
Yeah, it was very likely to fail because it was a very stupid plan undertaken by a very stupid person and his equally stupid henchmen. But that indeed was the plan. The fact that he tried and failed does not make it less horrifying that he tried, and that alone ought to be disqualifying.
Picking and choosing what misdemeanours to punish is the real problem. Media coverage & bias is a secondary problem: The democrats/ Hilary Clinton have committed similar misdemeanours and were merely fined. There was never a political witch hunt or mainstream media outcry. Biden has done many things in his life which are just as worthy of ridicule, condemnation and prosecution as Trumps misdemeanours. It’s just the justice & media system wasnt weaponised against him in the same way. I have evaluated my thinking a lot. I know all of your left wing / liberal arguments. I’m not inflexible because I’m being stubborn. I’m inflexible because liberals and lefty’s are totally wrong about the world and what improves the West.

I expect this will get lost amongst the Trump debate, but are the UK’s children’s homes system going to be uncovered as the next big money making scandal that is going undetected? I read recently that some homes are making up to £910 per week profit, for every child and the amount being spent by councils to house children is £1.8 billion. Blackpool is the centre for children’s homes because of the cheap housing prices and there are so many there that the council is introducing a law that states that there must be at least 400 metres between each home. The bottom paragraph shows, to me, that we should be really concerned about this as it is clear that the whole thing is being driven by profit with little regard for the children, some of whom have been placed in Blackpool, despite being from London, which has cut them off from family and friends, giving them no support. Councils spent £1.8billion on placements in private children’s homes last year, the Local Government Association says. Yet while their owners and investors make millions, the firms are often criticised for not even providing the basics for kids in their care. There are 34 children’s homes in Blackpool, Lancs, which is the UK’s poorest town. So many are set to open there that the council has brought in new distancing rules of at least 400 metres between them. All but one are operated by private companies, drawn to the area by cheap property and labour. Most are owned by foreign and private equity firms linked to offshore tax havens.
Good on you for getting away from the Trump theme. Interesting to read after our friend Osvaldoramo raised the hoary old critique of the left by citing 'politics of envy.' Piers Morgan tried to throw this one at Wes Streeting last Thursday because Labour has had the temertity to suggest that people buying a service - private education - should pay VAT on this. My politics, and I know that of thousands of long time Labour voters, isn't driven by 'politics of envy' but politics of justice. Despite Thatcher's claim, we do operate within a society and societies are complex organisations that need to be maintained. You can be a rich industrialist, but if: your workers can't get health care; the young aren't well educated; our transport infrastructure is not fit for purpose then you'll struggle and the economy suffers affecting all. Disproportianely it affects the most vulnerable, of course. The scandal of homes in Blackpool raised by San Tejon is a direct consequence of the insanity of 'contracting out' services that should be run by Government at both national and local level. Instead, there is profiteering on the backs of the most vulnerable.
