Tosin is apparently nailed on to Chelsea. He wants to stay in London.

    The other two though.

Location is another issue in general....Newcastle isn't as appealing as London... plus Chelsea are a bigger club.... the task Newcastle's owners have is huge.

I only assigned them to Howe because you accused him of only going safe and dull. Yes, let's do agree it is the club not Howe in charge of scouting, recruitment & transfers.

Do you still rate those players the club has signed as safe and dull then? Isak, Bruno, Botman, Gordon etc?

Yes we also got Burn, Trippier, Wood, etc , but that was for a specific need, when we were fighting relegation. We are in a different position now.

Let's maybe judge it AFTER the summer transfer window, without causing doom & gloom in the meantime based on hearsay.

Your right. The London pull is a major factor. Newcastle can older average to good players. But the world’s best would probably choose London over Newcastle every day of the week.

Kelly and mbueno are good signings. Not world class signings.

Let’s see though time will tell. It’s early days in the transfer world.

And there’s a Euros coming up.

agreed. The transfers this summer will be interesting.

It’s ok signing good players like we have and that’s been successful.

But to kick on and sign the top players that are already established that’s hard and those players have many options.

Exactly whether people like the fact or not there's a reality. Newcastle have moved up the pecking order, but players will always choose a big 6 club for multiple reasons.

This doesn't mean Newcastle can't get good players, but they have to accept they are picking up the ones the big clubs in England and across Europe leave on the shelves.

I'd like to see more ability to find talent that's what I'm getting at. There's been a definate nod towards plodders instead imo. If the moneys ran out that will continue I feel.

The way they're doing it might work.. I'm just giving my views.

Totally, agree. It's difficult at this stage to compete in the transfer market with the dirty 6. They have a much sytonger pull right now. It will take time and the owners have said that from the off. Ambition is there, but will need time to build.

However, I think you've missed my question, again, apologies if it wasn't clear. I'll copy again and put in bopd for you.

Do you still rate those players the club has signed as safe and dull then? Isak, Bruno, Botman, Gordon etc?

I just want to gauge your level of expectation when you say safe and dull. As I understand.l it, we can afford 2-3 more of that ilk, plus some supplementary squad players, without having to sell any 1st team players. I'd be happy with that. Would you?

They've lost out on Tosin ... Kelly is hardly a find amd he's basically just a Bournemouth left back. If Mike Ashley signed him I'd not have been surprised.

Ultimately it improves the squad which has an underbelly of dross that costs the club over 90 mins and the season, so signing 4 or 5 solid dull players probably isn't a bad step fwd.

In a few years they can then maybe start adding a few bells and whistles....but the likes of isak Guimareas Gordon and tonali won't hang around forever.

As we say every year the proof will be at the end of the window. Getting Kelly but losing out on Tosin neatly sums up where we are.

I’d like to see us really go for a couple of first team improvers - we surely have to if we’re trying to qualify for Europe or win something. Hearing that Isak/Wilson is Howes preferred attack for next season isn’t great.

It's like watching people being lead on a never ending journey to the end of a rainbow at this point... the task is impossible basically, but they think success will come.

Or you could just simply answer the question, rather than avoid because you know you've tied yourself up.

I'll make it simpler for you.

Would you be happy if we signed:

    - 2 more players of the quality of Isak / Bruno / Gordon / Botman, plus
    - 1 or 2 more like Hall & Tino, plus
    - a couple of squad players for free / low cost

    YES / NO.

No other words needed, just a yes or no.

You didn't say yes or no to my question which is when this all started <laugh> you explained an answer yourself.

Just read back through it's all there including a full explanation of my view.

Where exacty? I've answered your questions. If I've missed one, post it again.

You're just too afraid to put your own neck on the line, as usual.
