Well after a few beers and a lot of reading and reflection on the situation I think it’s time to take more beer on board and reflect again while waiting for the outcome of this saga

I posted it a good 3 weeks or so ago. As with everything info was passed on in good faith. Still leaving his job moved the goalposts and we moved on from Maric

If he’s the right man for the job then yes. It is just a job after all.

I’m not even saying that’s how I feel. But after the disaster of a season we’ve just had, a new head coach coming in and bringing a full set of new staff surely couldn’t be seen as a bad thing ffs

This was my thinking as well. I don’t really blame him either.

If they manage to pull it off now then it’ll make them look good.

I realise I’m clutching at straws a bit here.

A source that hadn't let me down on incoming transfers yet.

Sunderland are a football club looking for a new manager ...

... much like other football clubs including some who haven't yet sacked the current one <laugh>

That doesn't make any of them a laughing stock, just how things have always been and always will.

Fair enough. I'm going to have to remain sceptical simply for my sanity rather than out of distrust.

If the club is indeed behaving that headlessly, I will lose the last little bit of patience I'm clinging on to.

As with all the rumours posted, people take them as they see fit.

I could be being fed absolute rubbish but I don't see what purpose it would serve l, especially as what they have told me since has mirrored what others on here have said

To be honest it’s not even the fact of whom the manager is, the biggest issue for me amongst all of this is that this bloke was our top target. I couldn’t care less if that target was Still or someone else. We’ve been courting him for months it’s common knowledge whether people want to believe it not. But why would we not pay the compensation to get him before his contract ended when we’ll happily go and piss £2m up the wall on Mundle in the middle of the season? Another £1.5m or whatever on Hjelde?

Just seems a bit like the only thing that’s important is trying to make money on young players. As someone rightly pointed out yesterday we DO spend money.. but are we spending it wisely? We won’t spend the wages to get in some quality experience nor spend the money to get our preferred managerial target but dangle an 18 year old in front of us and the club goes full Jimmy Saville.

Just what's already been posted by others, I've been a bit side tracked this week with more important things to be honest

Have you considered that Still said he wouldn't leave Reims midseason?

This is the problem with building an entire argument on guesswork.

Definitely does equally we have to stop thinking Dodds being good at what he does means we can’t replace him with better, calling for managers/coaches/players leaving is only beneficial if we get better in, calling for coaches/players staying presumes we won’t get better. Recruitment is so important and that’s why I think it’s time to upgrade our team and approach. We’ve had too many misjudgments recently to do nothing, it would be madness. That doesn’t mean we have to change it all.

I get what you say but my top target for years has been Salma Hayek. Now i'm very happy with my wife as the reality Salam was probably beyond my reach.

As they say, if you don't give it a go you never know.

We see players agents courting the media to get the best result for their client, i'd guess that they do the same for managers that they represent

Proof? Wasn’t he only there because it was forced upon him when the previous manager left and he was going to get a heavy fine for breaching his contract if he left?

If you’d been buying Salma Hayek drinks and taking her out for 6 months then I came in on the day you were about to leave for your new life with her would you just say oh well and toddle off? :emoticon-0102-bigsm
