    Loved watching Fergie so wound up. Just frustration at his own team really and getting a little bit of his own medicine refereeing wise. First half was even (Fergie must have been on the sauce to think they dominated), they maybe shaded on half chances. 2nd half fair enough they dominated and created a few clear cut chances but not as many as drunken Taggart thinks. Obviously little old Newcastle pissed on his chips but to be honest he just embarrassed himself on Saturday.

    Great away performance. Hopefully we'll stick it up them when they come to ours so we can watch Taggarts red heed explode.

    You got lucky. Happens to every team. Except when it happens for United, we apparently paid the ref or the FA is in our pocket. Yet when it goes against us, it is forgotten. I can bet you next time we get a decision like this, you fans would scream bloody murder and this incident will only be remembered by United fans. As Terry_Hardacre said, "Historically United would have put more than 1 goal past the Newcastle 'keeper and the penalty that never was, would be then rendered insignificant." - This is what happened before so incidents like this, when they happened to us were 'rendered insignificant'. Next time we get a decision for us, especially when its against you, I hope you are gracious enough to say "Well, sometimes you get them and sometimes you don't." but I can bet, by reading your post you will not.

    Swings and roundabouts, some you win some you lose, all those saying's bode well in football.

    Best thing is we took a point off Man U and proved pundits wrong, we can play well against big teams.

    You have to remember that the interview was done right after the match and like most managers who have had a blatantly wrong decision cost them, the frustration has come out in the interview. Fergie usually admits when we've been lucky but he also voices when we haven't. I don't think there was any disrespect meant towards Newcastle, it was more likely that Fergies frustration just came out.

    Newcastle played well, at least until late in the game anyway and Jonas getting sent off didn't help them but they held on. At the end of the day, you win some and you lose some, but whenever a decision goes against you, and this applies to most fans of all teams, you voice your frustration. Just because Manchester United are such a big and succesfull club doesn't change that and being a manager or a player doesn't either.

    I was more miffed with Ferdinand's comment when he essentially said 'We should have scored 6...'

    Erm. Nope.

    You MIGHT have scored 6 but you didn't due to resolute defending and a keeper on top form. To infer that you SHOULD was insulting.

    That's just the sort of attitude I'd expect. A good number of their fans (typically ones that are about my age or younger), their manager and most of their players can't get their heads around not winning matches.

    Agreed, and also his comment about 'they had one chance all game' - erm, not true, the stats clearly show 6 on target and i could think of 4 off the top of my head.

    I think the whole penalty incident has taken away the fact that although Manure had numerous chances to score in the final 30 minutes of the game and had plenty of opportunities they didn't.

    Had the pen been scored in the 97th minute (SFA Time) then yes I can understand them feeling robbed, but it wasn't.

    Fact of the game both goals had an element of luck about them, our defence held out even with 10 men and Manure failed to score any of the other chances that came about.

    Good nail biting game to watch and based on the overall play both teams deserved a point.

    I have no doubt that Rooney was frustrated and was deliberately kicking harder than he needed to in order to dig Colo. See the look on his face when he's hoofing him man, pure malice, the guy is a thug. If he's genuinely attempting to get only the ball then surely he'd try to get his foot under the ball and scoop it up considering Coloccini is on his arse at the time, kicking it straight at him when he's in the way of it isn't going to accomplish anything. He was trying to get a nice dig in while making it look like he was going for the ball and then turn around shrugging his shoulders like butter wouldn't melt.

    Ben Arfa had every right to feel aggrieved although he, and later Cabaye, didn't know that you get punished for showing any emotion. Next time they'll learn to act as a team and swarm around the officials shouting in their faces all at once, because apparently that isn't a bookable offence.

    Unfortunately though your players and manager make a habit out of trying to influence referees. This is why it brings great pleasure to other fans when it goes against them. I don't buy the FA being in Man U's pocket or them paying anyone off. Far too far fetched does not begin to describe that notion. I don't think the FA or referees give stuff to Man U simply because they are the biggest club in the land either. However I do think Man U regularly engage in the practice of trying to influence refs before a game (manager) and during (players and manager). All teams do it to a certain extent but I have no doubt that Ferguson must have encouraged it. Either that or Man U have an awful lot of twats. It has got better since the Keane days when they were just a disgrace but Man U and Chelski are still the teams at it the most.

    I do think Old Trafford is a place where you get the ****ty end of the stick. But I don't have a problem with it as I have to say I've seen our own stadium influence a referee in our favour.

    I am yet to read a post from you that isn't rational or level headed. Has anyone ever disagreed with you? <yikes>

    Agreed.

    A lot of your support will be (imo unjustly) outraged by a draw against us, especially after recent derby events. He's just covering his back. This is clearly highlighted by the "one chance" comment.

    Doesn't bother me to be honest. We grabbed a point at OT, not many others will achieve that this season.

    Having said that, AP has made some excellent comments about the reds and SAF, it's disappointing that SAF cannot replicate that courtesy.

    <cheers>

    Am sure the comments Fergie made were in the heat of the moment. Am sure he respects Newcastle

    hmmm, maybe so. I hope that is the case, as I do have some respect for SAF.

    Having said that, I will be celebrating when he retires :) haha

    Evra's tackle right in front of the goallino whatever you call him against Chelsea, was the exact reverse of this, clear as day all day 100% penalty.

    All day this was no pen, from any angle, I can't remember Fergie bemoaning that^ and telling the ref he's ended Chelsea's hopes:)

    Agree Fergie will likely land himself in trouble for his comments about the assistant ref on saturday. The fact that he was justified in criticising the decision is besides the point. Managers are not allowed to discuss officials in interviews in anyway which influences their performance. Surely suggesting that he won't get another gig comes under that category because he is making it clear that he would not be welcome at a Man U game again.

    By rights he should get a sizeable touchline ban and a fine for that. Question is ... will he?

    <ok>

    Instead of complaining about the penalty we should worry more about what happened to the team that put 8 past arsenal, and can now barely put one past anyone at home.

    I think plenty of teams do it, just it is more highlighted when United do it. Take the recent thing Wigan's Manager said after the Wigan and Blackburn game. Though what he said to some extent is correct, if United had a decison like that go for them people would be up in arms while if we had such an incident against us, apparently we deserve it.

    Swings and rounabouts is just about right, though it peeves me off when people think we deserve it. We get as much our way as well as against us. I would say more recently Refs are more frighten to give United a penalty as it may seem like they are favoring us while if things go against us, they don't really get lamblasted by fans of opposing sides, in fact they get praised which you can see in the threads here and elsewhere.
