What a pity they didn’t keep those tall things on tracks with a pole on the roof.

anyway, there are 58 figures, the four main Beatles apart, on the cover of the sgt pepper album. if you had to pick 58 people for your album cover, who would you pick and what criteria would you use?

i'm currently up to 30-odd trying to make it people i admire, but too often we know too much about people in these internet days.

i'm trying to think of spheres to pick people from. sports and music, comedy, inventors, artists, writes, all good places to start, probably various types of reformers too, but not really my sphere. perhaps i'll just make do with thomas paine.

not sure whether relatives should be allowed or not, and that would certainly affect our choices.

    anyone care to volunteer lists?

It beggars belief that while West Oxfordshire District Council have been doing everything they can to make life as difficult as possible for Jeremy Clarkson by continually refusing permission for him to build a car park for his farm shop, just down the road at Eynsham they and Oxfordshire County Council have spent the last two years building a new 850 place park and ride, which is now finished but may not open for another couple of years!

All told it has apparently cost £52 million! So £60,000 per parking place …..

Turns out they have now run out of money to build the connecting roads and the new road scheme for the A40, let alone have permission for it yet, so having spent all this money, the Park and Ride will just be abandoned for the time being!

East riding council are no different. All my dealing with them are either incompetent, misguided or spiteful on the planning front, meddling for the sake of it. Totally ****ing useless. But that's the same for most folk who work for government organisations, can't make it anywhere else. So the council just end up with the dross. Which is odd as we need them to be highly functioning.

Is OLM on a coffee break? He hasn’t asked you if you understand what no politics means and locked you out of the thread,
