Mmmm. Why did it fall through ? If Saints really wanted him, they would have got him for a relatively low fee - which would still be a huge fee for a club like Aberdeen. I`d suggest he`s as good a natural finisher as anything Saints have at present. He doesn`t play with his back to goal, more through the channels, which might suit how Saints play.
I wonder if it was linked to the reports late in the window that Che was going to leave. Believable that if Che left we'd have got £5m-£6m and then spent it on Miovski?
I expect it might have been connected to someone on our end needing to move on and that not happening? I wondering whether he can make the step up but the links have been persistent and you have to imagine that for any planned permanent signings we would have believed they have the potential to play in the premier league. I’m not sure where Shea Charles falls into that statement as we don’t seem to have worked out how best to use him. He’s not experienced enough for the lone 6 role clearly as the way we use that position is more about being in the right place rather than physicality - very much like Morgan Schneiderlin (or Carrick / Busquets and midfielders like that).
Unless he has a relegation release clause for someone other than Villa then he will probably command too high a fee
I would like a cap on spending and wages, but to then also cap ticket prices and tv sport subscriptions, would give profit to the owners without making them gazillioires, make sport affordable to the masses, make it a level playing field for teams and prevent teams from going bust. But… the owners wor become gazzionaires so it won’t happen
Well Leeds seem to think they are signing him Clarke, Rowe, Phillips and Rodon so guess that’s those lot out the window for us then
https://www.teamtalk.com/leeds-unit...-southampton-salt-wound-surprise-winger-swoop Dan James can't hit the side of a house. I've watched him a fair bit and headless chicken springs to mind. Rodon though - that guy is class and would be a real asset. Quite who he would replace tho is interesting.
I think the play offs showed that it we’re to stand any chance of Russball being successful we’ll need to continue with a back three. Stephens is the probably the weaker of the three in situ. ABK can’t be relied upon, so another addition makes sense. Charles could also make a decent additional option
For all the banter between the clubs in the build up we really struggle to get major investment like this. Time will tell of course
I think Solak/Sport Republic have put in about £200m and they've only owned us for 2.5 years. They aren't a fancy drink brand but they have invested serious money in us.
Yeah they have been generous for sure. I think Greg was referring to Red Bull only owning a small stake in the club but potentially pumping in a lot of money. The majority owners of Leeds have also spent a lot so this is just additional revenue, which is something Saints don’t have, for obvious reasons
Yes - i wasn’t clear. The large money for a small stake. We struggle even with sponsors it seems (and I believe they will also be the short sponsor)
I’ve not really watched him much, but 13 goals and 7 assists would suggest that he is better at hitting a barn door and slightly more in touch with his chicken-head than some of our own Piroe scored 1 more, assisted 4 less and had 2 more starts Also, there’s the Russ-Factor
I think Leeds are going to absolutely destroy the Championship next season now. The three relegated teams aren't all that. 100 points plus.
