Our track record with Scandi managers isn’t the best - ok it’s only been one but really for a relegation scrap in the PL OGS was not the right man. Another fine mess you got us into there Dalman<doh>

If he can start on Monday, sign him up.
I'm still sat on the fence regarding Erol, and while I don't want any old manager, we need someone credible now. Not a week, not a fortnight, not a month. Now.
Given his record with limited resources, albeit in a lower standard, it's the type of manager we need. If his style suits Davies, it might be easier on the eye than what we've been served up lately. The question is, would it be effective enough?
Probably more effective than no manager.

Have to say I'm all for Erol being given crack at next season, but if he's dallying over a contract or the board are still unconvinced about him then we need to act.

This guy clearly has something about him to be able to get a club promoted in Denmark and then save Kortrijk (ok, by the skin of their teeth but he did it!) after they were looking doomed... BUT do we really want more upheaval and would we be in danger of this guy being a bit of a 'yes' man??

You could argue that one way could be to offer Bulut a 2 or 3 year rolling contract with a sub clause rendering it null and void should City be relegated. If Bulut is that confident, he would surely be happy with that.

The problem would be if it was all going pear-shaped next year, Tan would have to wait until the end of the season to trigger that without having to pay him up for the full contract term. The bigger issue for supporters with that scenario is it would leave City in League One before having the option to change the manager unless Tan took the financial hit.

Has Bulut done enough to merit a longer contract? Back him or sack him seems to be the cry, but the way major decisions are made at the club, neither option fills me with confidence.

Yes indeed there isn't much to instill trust and confidence amongst the fans. I hate seeing this happen to our club.

I think we've all wandered off topic for this thread and most of the recent comments would be more suited to the "Bulut and the Future" thread.

You're correct. There must be a way of constructing a contract that protects both parties.
We know how vindictive Tan can be though.
I'm surprised Malkey has lasted as long as he has in his new role. Must be a few weeks now.

As you say, if Erol is as confident as he seems, he should take the risk.

    You're not missing anything will.

Although Bulut's out of contract and officially "unemployed", I think the natural assumption is he's still here until we're told differently.

In many ways, that's the root of the problem. We have no manager. Either Erol is re-employed, or a new manager is appointed.

The oddity is the ethereal 'contract option'. It was never clarified what the goals were, or who the option lay with. I assume the option didn't sit with Erol and / or the conditions weren't met.

It's all moot. We just need a manager appointed, Erol or not, so we can get pre-season under way and prepare for the next season.

It'll be another slow start to the season, another case of 'judge me after 10 games', and cries from the manager of 'we had a slow start as I didn't have a full pre-season to prepare'.

    Deja vu all over again.

I may be wrong, no change there then, but I though Bulut's contract ran to 1st June hence the current lack of news.

If I'm right then we should see some white smoke from Leckwith Towers or Bulut's Citroën 2CV disappearing east along the M4 this weekend.

If I'm wrong then Sparkey will correct me as usual.

I think he had issues with the Hull board regarding being backed so I doubt he and Vince would get on too well.
