We didn't have to go full-on high-risk though. My gripe is that in his first full season the wage bill rose massively (87% I believe), but actually, the quality on the pitch didn't. We were a little better, but a lot of the signings were either unfit, injured or useless and we wasted a lot of money and we had the KLP income too.

We're 2 years on and we've still not replaced the bite from Smallwood and Honeyman or the leadership from those two and Magennis.

We've been saying exactly the same for the last 10-15 years now. It's a tomorrow thing.

I'm actually really frustrated with us this at present. All our rivals are in a mess or being ripped up with managers going here and there. The league looks wide open and we were in a really solid position with a good chance of exploiting the chaos. We've sacked a good gaffer and the replacement is bizarre, the head of recruitment has gone and it's mission impossible now to rebuild the squad, settle the gaffer in and hire someone to lead the recruitment.

It’ll be interesting how the anti Rosenior people align if we don’t have a great start. Will they back Walter to the hilt or will they be become anti-Walt, and then be exposed as perpetual moaning ****s? Or turn on Acun?

I do think there'll be a bit of an identity crisis on here one way or another. Some pro-Rosenior people might struggle to come around to Walt if he has us playing great football just out of stuborness (and no I won't be one), while as you say the reverse could also be true, those backing Walter to have us playing a much more exciting brand might struggle to accept the reality that a young, rapidly assembled squad can have inconsistent patches throughout a season no matter who the manager is. Acun might struggle to accept this too.

If we end the season with P 46, W 46, D 0, L 0, Pts = 138, GD = 85 then I believe you when you say you won't be one of those out of stubborness.

However we won't end the season with that tally, and you will continue to be an argumentative ****.

Yes, spending all of last season backing the manager and the team and looking for the positives in how we were developing was so negative and argumentative of me. <doh>

This is the perfect example of what I'm talking about. I made a diplomatic, balance post directed at both pro- and anti-Rosenior posters and the divide between them and the awareness both would need to show if either it does or doesn't work out with Walter and you've managed to spin it around to me being argumentative.

Yeah but it was boring sometimes when teams shut us out. And that definitely won't happen now because it was only a Liam Rosenior thing.

    Only boring sometimes?

Obviously those who thought it boring MOST of the time didn't have the footballing intelligence to comprehend that we were actually witnessing a masterclass of technical wizardry and tactical genius when Jones passed it to Greaves who passed it back to Jones who passed it to Coyle who passed it back to Jones who passed it back to Greaves who then passed it back to Allsop. (Repeat 75 times each match).

    This.

This comment will trigger some, but Rosenior was very eloquent and really good at explaining how his play style trumped all others etc. He was also very good at defending his playing style against those that questioned it, or on occasion, gaslighting people that questioned it. This has lead to supporters doing exactly the same thing and a clear divide in the fan base. Those who bought what he was saying, and those that didn't; Those who didn't want to look like they didn't understand the benefits of his football, and those who were willing to question the flaws with it.

I imagine many of those defending Rosenior when the football was ****, will be the first to 'overreact' and pile on the new guy when we lose our first game. Or Acun, seeing as he's been taking somewhat of a pasting recently. Those that do won't even see the irony.

I've known Steverico for years, so know full well what his take will be. Consistency is the key. :emoticon-0125-mmm:

Doesn't matter, point is it won't happen any more because we've got rid of Rosenior. Just entertaining, satisfying games from here on out. And no one will mind if we've actually regressed from last season because the important thing is that it isn't boring.

This is the annoying thing. It’s ok in hindsight but in January we should have been building for this season. The league looks more open, so we needed to be in a settled position to have a crack. We’ve done the exact opposite.

Is it still only a verbal agreement we have with Walter or has anything more definite happened.
