National service would cost a fortune to implement and would achieve absolutely nothing ... ... despite a constant stream of various shapes and sizes of PM's you can't deny their policies are consistent
The national service they are on about is absolute nonsense and even if the totally unexpected were to happen they won't go ahead with it. It's just an attempt to claw back some votes from reform.
You could have a lad of 18 who is married, has children and works paying taxes spending his weekends doing the equivalent of "community service" , which criminals have to do, on his weekends off despite doing absolutely nothing wrong. Still, the blue rinse brigade pensioners rattling about like a pea in a drum in their 5 bedroom houses in the home counties will be happy I suppose.
I have said before, we have not had a decent government since the turn of the millennium. Government doesn't run the country anymore. Judges, lawyers, house of Lords, ( needs scraping) protest groups, civil servants, all play a part in stopping thing happen in politics. We deserve better. I will not be voting Tory or Labour, both are incompetent, but whoever wins l really hope we get behind them. Personally l will be voting for Rick Astley. He will never, Give you up, Let you down, Run around, or Desert you, Make you cry, Say goodbye, Tell a lie, or Hurt you. That from his manifesto.
Shows what a sad state the country is in. Labour are probably going to win the next election with a land slide victory. The reason behind that, is it because of their fantastic policies, is it because people believe they can rescue the country from the **** we are dealing with every day. No, the main reason is plain and simple that they can't possibly be any worse than the tories. What do you do at the polling station. Do I believe anything that comes out of Starmers mouth, NO. Do I want him as our next PM , NO. Real problem I've got is what other option is there
I'll vote for anyone who won't ignore highly paid foreign investors pumping untreated shyte into our rivers and seas. This government has made a total mess of that and almost everything else over 14 years ... ... now Sunak is bounding into people's workplaces, grinning like he's in the Shining, tie off and sleeves rolled up, telling everyone about how wonderful things will be. It's like someone being sacked for continually stealing from work saying 'Please just one more chance'. Nah, clear your desk and f*ck off.
Why on earth is Diane Abbott the lead story on the BBC 10 o'clock news ... ... with an impending General Election is this really the most important news story.
It’s them or Tory where I am so I’ll vote for them as you suggested but after that they will have to do well to convince me they are going to make things better. Someone needs to be bold and actually change things. People are suffering and too few people, business included are benefitting.
Take him over the posh boys who have absolutely shafted this country the last 14 years. I can’t think of a single thing that has got better. All those years of austerity and we are in more debt now than ever before.
I wonder if anyone has asked The Armed Services if they WANT to take on a bunch of mostly disinterested youth's of whatever gender? Could they, The Services I mean, cope. Picking at what seems a reasonable estimation there would be potential 800K elligable. Remove a number who might be exempt for whatever reasons and The Army, Navy and Air Force COULD be faced with having an extra half million people to clothe, train, house and feed. Currently there are just under 200.000 Service personal. However inaccurate my estimates might be they do show up something of a potential logistics problem. Of course, if they were only going to serve for a short time it might be possible, except that in a short time they are unlikly to learn much that would be of use to The Services, or Themselves or Society. (I wonder if, whoever dreamed this idea up, realised that ALL people of every concievable gender would need to be included.)
I'm sure they will without a doubt, but like I said not because people are confident that Labour will transform the country, more a case of trying to stop the tories of doing anymore damage
National service could be a tool that will clear the country of people who do not want to integrate once the brown envelope drops through the letter box they'll be off. I as an ex serviceman would not like to work alongside someone who is forced into something imagine the constant whinging.
