I wouldn’t know, sorry. I watch a bit of European football but I think the Belgian second division is a bit too niche even for me <laugh>

Shame for them that they’ve had back-to-back relegations though. Bit like Troyes in France. There was a player at Zulte Waregram I liked the look of but I think he went to one of the Ukrainian teams when they got relegated to the Belgian second tier.

Shame about that useless winger we had on loan from them the other year

They are a big club, yeah. Won a few titles in the 70s and 80s and the Danish cup 5 times too.

Well seeing as they’ve gone bust and all their players are free, I’d take Zech Madely, their 6ft 5 centre half. Was an Arsenal youngster and England Youth International.

Would probably take left winger Juanda Fuentes as well and the striker Momo Berte. Both are good ages and have room for development.

Fuentes came through the Barcelona academy.

To be honest I thought they were still in the Juliper League. Remember them being in it a while ago so fair enough.

I know Cov got that Sakamoto from them so wondered if there was another decent marker

Many on here insisted he had to play as he was the only one who provided balance on the right. He was Injured the same time as Philo and struggled on return. Some have since said he was one of the worst players to wear a Ciy shirt for years, which was absolutely ridiculous.
If we want squad players as good as our first XI, then the only way it can happen is if there is a massive drop in the quality of first team players.
Realistically Lokilo and Longman would be the level needed for squad players.

Agreed without parachute payments you’re going to struggle to get good quality bench players.

Blooding youth/young players is the way to go for game changers

Hull City vice-chairman Tan Kesler says the club are in discussions with Premier League winners Manchester City over a move for Liam Delap.

The 21-year-old striker was a talismanic performer for City this season having arrived from the Etihad at the start of pre-season training last summer, scoring eight goals in 31 Championship games.

His untimely knee injury picked up early in the New Year saw him miss 15 games at a crucial stage of the campaign, only returning with five games of the campaign left and City chasing a place in the play-offs which they ultimately fell short of.

Delap proved a real hit on the terraces with fans urging him to stay and owner Acun Ilicali to try and keep him at the MKM Stadium, but Kesler says that decision will ultimately be down to the player and what he wants next for his promising career, coupled with the incoming new Tigers boss.

"Yes and no. The chairman wants him so badly," the City vice-chairman told Hull Live when asked if bringing the powerful frontman back was realistic. "If we didn't have Financial Fair Play (FFP) and EFL regulations he (Ilicali) would have literally invested in him and tried to buy him. You know how he is, he's (Ilicali) very passionate for football, very passionate for improvement and we like him (Delap) so much.

"At the end of the day, he belongs to Man City and also he probably has his own agenda. We've been talking to his agent. I don't see why not (sign him), but it has to make (financial) sense.

"We have to be able to spend money but also generate money for him. A loan back to us could be an option if Man City doesn't sell him."

Whereas some clubs (who in theory should already have better players) don’t have the same restrictions.

There's that comment again "If not for FFP we'd be throwing all this money at it". I don't doubt Acun's enthusiasm, and maybe there's structural things restricting him rather than not having the cash, but there's so many things we CAN throw money at which just seem low priority.

This almost guarantees we’ll be getting him on loan then, if we do get him back. I’d take that.

Tan mentioned the ffp, acun said if Liam wants to come here then we’ll sign him. This was after he’d said we don’t need to sell greaves or philogene to manage ffp.

If he came out publicly and said 'yes we need to sell Greaves and Philogene' then that would damage the value we can get for them. The club expect them to go but want as much as they can for them (rightly so).
