Tbh I thought the ref was beginning to have a laugh when the announced 9 mins somehow got to 12! I felt really proud of our lads in that extra time, there was definitely a ‘you shall not pass’ attitude across the pitch and ‘it’s our day and our turn, you’ve had your chance and didn’t take it!!’ Brilliant to be there when finally the whistle blew. I’ll never forget that moment!!

The 9 minutes did not start until 3 minutes after 90, so I knew the whistle wasn’t coming after 9.

What is this Freed from Desire that everyone is banging on about, and what is the connection to football or Saints?

It stems from Wigan fans starting it all as a chant of 'Will Grigg's on fire' in 2016. It then got adapted very many times by other clubs for their own strikers and in turn, gave the original song 'Freed from Desire' a massive boot up the arse and brought it back to life.

Got played straight after the final whistle at Wembley and in the euphoria, absolutely everyone went for it. Was a mixture of people singing 'Armstrong's on fire' and the original lyrics.

Knew the Will Grigg chant but didn’t know it was based on a real song. That’s the problem with only having a 1960’s/ 1970’s cd collection.

An American blogger somehow blagged a ticket from a Saints fan who had been “denied entry”.
The video is pretty good and shows loads of Saints fans in the bowl and underneath at HT.
Check it out and see if you are in it.
Best comment he made was something like “The female fans are better looking than the ones from the day before.” <laugh>
