As long he as talks about the greatest ground and fans in the world, St Marys, and signs a fans shirt on holiday before he's even talked to the club, it'll all be good.
I remember sitting on a table next to the players in early 2010 in the pitcher & piano. (Different times in league one when hardly anyone knew who they were) and Lallana was talking to Rickie & Chappers about the tactics used against MK Dons. I could tell he loved the game, whilst the others didn’t really want to talk shop. Martin likes the slow paced football, so I don’t think speed is necessarily a huge asset. He has probably the best close control I have seen of any saints player, so I see no reason why he still couldn’t do a certain job when called upon, he certainly can’t be slower than Aribo
Funnily enough I imagine playing against a midfield including Aribo and Lallana out of possession would be pure hell. Just need to deage Fabrice Fernandes and play would never leave the center circle.
thank you statman! He’s 36 and not been doing well for a club that was starting to struggle in the second half of the season. It’s a nonsense sentiment appointment that will be divisive as much as nostalgic.
Scholes had plenty of bite in midfield, though, so he could build play while also contributing defensively. Lallana's a defensive liability. If his name were Allan Lallamarama and it didn't have the nostalgia factor, we wouldn't even consider it.
Aribo won a foot race yesterday against the Leeds RB. I don’t know who was more surprised, me or Joe!
I would rather we were in for Matic at 35. All the ageing mids slip back into a DM role and that's not what Lallana will ever be any good for. he's too damn old to be playing further forwards. I'll shut up now.
For me , it’s not that he left the club . It’s the manner in which he left that I can’t forgive . He ****ed off from this club , he can stay ****ing out of it . Yes I bare a grudge .
Corky is 34 and a DM. Lets get him back home. Big Vic is only 32, Morgs is 34. We could have the whole band back together. Imagine the nostalgia.
It's a credit to Lallana I suppose that he's the oldest of them, including Walcott, and still more or less has both of his legs. Theo's retired, Morgan's a nomad (and struggling to get any time in Turkey or Greece), Jack played about as much in the PL as I did last year, and Vic is a fixture at CF Montreal, but increasingly becoming a fixture on their bench.
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but this could be a very good move for a certain Tyler Dibling ... as much as I dislike the little rat, he was a damn good player and if he can take young Tyler under his wing for a season, that could only be a benefit.
How often do these things work out? Am ok with it if he can do a job for us, but he isn’t that young lad anymore.
Well. I really didn't think this was a thing that would happen. Assumed he'd retire as you don't get too many midfielders that can still play PL level at 36. Pretty sceptical about it given his age and injury record tbh. Can only hope he isn't set to be a high earner.
I wonder how much of a part Adam's old mate Drew Surman joining the academy coaching staff has had to do with this
Those were my first 2 idols as a kid so am fully on board with this whole "getting the band back together" route, even if it does feel a little football manager-esque.
