I have got no money, and yesterday I had trembly knees. As well as a squeaky bum and fluttering heart.

My ears are still recovering from the whistles which started 9 mins beforehand. Many of us served an apprenticeship in this longest moments in 1976, yesterday felt even worse, But my wife tells me that I did not have a dream yesterday and yes, today is Monday.
I have no doubt that Saints have a future fan base in our family, 3 generations of us there yesterday and were those Grandsons wound up by the end!

Random thought about the game: for all the noise about him in the summer (with supposedly Leeds, Leicester and Saints all interested + clubs in Europe), I thought Joel Piroe was a total non-entity in the final.

 

I thought that was a bit of an odd one that he didn’t end up here. You’d assume with the Martin connection we’d sign him. My assumption at the time was that, after a rough start, Leeds threw money at him, but maybe Martin didn’t want him after he’d seen the players at his disposal here. None of my Leeds mates think he’s much good, almost as bad as Bamford

 

Non-entity for the second half of the season, really. Can make a strong argument that they'd have gone up automatically if they'd gotten much out of him from mid-December on.

 

I do remember RM in pre-season really bigging up Arma and then, once Piroe moved, I am sure there were some comments about how Piroe and Armstrong like to occupy similar areas and do similar things.

Maybe he looked at Arma, knew his track record with Blackburn at this level and realised that Saints were banking on him anyway because of his transfer value and decided that Piroe wasn't a battle worth getting into in the market. Instead went for a different profile of player with Stewart, someone he had wanted before at MK - although that did not work out for Saints or Ross this season, sadly

 

I didn’t think much of any Leeds players except Archie Gray and Dan James. But those two were very impressive!

Gnonto is all bark no bite for me. Not impressed at all.
