Yeah I’m not saying we should be looking at replacing him, if we are replacing him then we would probably be buying a whole new team, just that we will need at least half a dozen new players coming into the squad in my view
Very very happy to keep arma as a wing option. He’s been amazing off the right. But I hope we bring in a couple of strikers and wingers. Big questions to answer now around all our other wing options
More than happy for Adarma to be given another chance in the Premier League, as a right side player. He joined us when we were crap and was played in a variety of different positions and when he got chances he snatched at them. Yesterday’s finish was excellent because he looked up to check where the keeper was and there was very little follow through on the shot. He kind of stabbed the ball with precision rather than over hit it a screw it wide. Also his runs off the ball were really good.
Bring in Soule to compete with him at RW, I'd like Broja at striker but that's probably too expensive.
Lallana isn't very good and has not been very good for quite some time now. He has 4 goals and 5 assists in his last 135 PL games, and at 36 he's unlikely to get more productive. His average of a goal contribution every 646 minutes in that span compares unfavourably to a lot of defenders.
Hmm, Brighton mate of mine speaks very well of him still and reckons he contributes nicely, but that he doesn't play in the final phase of play anymore. He floats around in midfield and plays the pass to release the wide player more often nowadays, supposedly. But apparently has been a great off-field presence there and was seen as someone who played a key role in taking them from Premier League newbies to a steady top-half side. I don't hate it and my sentimental side would quite love to see him score one last goal for Saints (perhaps!) - but off the bench.
Lallana moved because a big club who paid good money came in for him, and it was based solely on what benefitted him at the time. Likewise this move. should it come about, is what can he do that will benefit us. Can he still perform on the pitch? I don't know but we shouldn't be taking him back for a possible coaching role it should be about what he can add to the squad.
Chants of "ohh Adam Lallana" at the promotion celebration when Phil Parsons (CEO) came on stage suggests majority of fans would welcome him
If he’s on low wages then I guess it’s ok. I would be underwhelmed if our PL wingers are: Fraser Brooks Sulemana Edozie Lallana
If they were our wide options then I'd 100% be worried too. But Lallana plays centrally these days and I don't think Brooks or Sulemana will be here next season. Anything could happen this transfer window but I'm confident we don't finish the window with that list as our options
Why does anyone think we are getting Brooks? Bournemouth sent him here as they believe he is quality but needs to recover. Jumping in for Lallana is fantastic. It shows we are being proactive in the market rather than reactive. I think this is our most important window in a decade and we may well spend a lot more than many expect. We have to show we mean business.
I think its a no brainer, he was still playing frequently at a reasonable Brighton side last year and is good enough for a side aiming to survive. Vastly experienced PL player and a known leader, can see him getting on very well with RM too. Would be nice to repair some of the damage in the relationship between a guy that once delivered a lot for the club but also left in less than pleasant circumstances, if he can come back and put in some performances that help us stay up then he will be looked upon much more fondly and it will be nice to have him back in the fold.
From what I've seen of him at Brighton, his role is totally different to the Lallana we had here. More of a deep-lying creative dictator - a bit like how Scholes finished at Utd.
Re comparisons to Walcott we battered him a bit, but he was pretty much the only player alongside maybe KWP and Alcaraz that turned up in the tail end of last season I still don't think he was an outright bad signing, maybe mediocre. Plus I think despite his age, Lallana's fitness record is better than Theo's was.
