Ranking Bristol City's top 7 best managers based on PPG - Dean Holden = 5th
Ranking the top seven Bristol City managers based on their points per game record

    • Liam Manning led Bristol City to an 11th place finish in the Championship this season, taking over in November.
    • Despite falling 11 points short of the play-offs, there are many positives to build on for the future.
    • Lee Johnson, Steve Cotterill, and Danny Wilson are among the best Bristol City managers based on points per game.

when making a statement like 11pts short of ........ it is sweeping statement of the end result

reality could have been different ! had we beaten the 5th and 6th INSTEAD OF 2 DRAWS AND 2 LOSSES ! we would have had 72 points they would have had 71 & 69 Norwich would not have got top 6!

Surely the key is the phrase “based on their PPG record”. It’s not a list based on which managers have necessary done the best job, otherwise the likes of TC wouldn’t be left out of it altogether.

It’s all subjective. Some of those points per game were from different leagues. It’s the same as comparing final league positions - Cotts would win hands down, but it doesn’t tell the full story.

If it was in the order of height stature, LJ wouldn’t feature.

I’m more surprised that Tinman and Deano feature than LJ to be honest.

If they never interfered with Cotts transfer plans I believe we would have not gone through the LJ and Holden years. He may not have done anything since but that team to me was good enough to have pushed on with Maguire and Grey added. Plus if Fredericks never had that argument. We may of at that time done a Ipswich.
With that summer of mistakes led to Cotts throwing his toys out the bag, bit like Nige’s spats. If only they learnt from that we may have been better.

LJ would be above Holden & Tinman for sure, as he achieved higher finishes at a higher level, whether people on here like it or not.

Laugh it up, he’s still the only manager since his dad to get us anywhere near the Championship play offs again.
Look at how Hibs have done since he left,.,,,Sunderland sack managers for fun, as do Fleetwood - that was a huge error by Lj, it smacked of desperation to get back into management.

Of a player, tactics, the opposition........he's just a spoilt useless ******.

Desperation will be the Cheltenham job.

It’s simple maths. There’s no need to debate.
Who has presided over the most games at the highest level?
    Alan Dicks of course.
Gary J and Lee J will also be up there. It’s simple FACT.
Liking someone or hating them doesn’t change the FACT.
Neither does how much money was spent during their tenure.
