It will be interesting to see, if this rumour about LD leaving is true, how they reorganise the recruitment department. They clearly feel it is an important part of the business model, finding young raw talent, and hopefully developing them into a squad player or to sell on at a profit. I just wonder how this will shake down, they will have already pinpointed targets, so will we see LD high jack some of them for Stoke, if of course this is true?
Did not know that Will Jarvis is back on loan at Shelbourne this season. https://shelbournefc.ie/player_profile/will-jarvis/ Scored two penalties in latest game and they are six points clear in the league. He also had the highest rating of all players on the pitch. https://www.sofascore.com/shamrock-rovers-shelbourne/znbsCnb
Watched it last night, just looks dangerous everytime he has the ball. Hope he gets a fair chance, he’s a proper forward who will score goals
For context though, Shelbourne's best player last season, Jack Moylan, moved to Lincoln in January and in 18 appearances, although he scored 4 goals, he only completed the 90 minutes twice. Harry Wood was also amongst the best last season but then went to Grimsby and barely played. It's really not a very good standard.
Harry Wood was wanted by Crawley and Shelbourne (Duff was desperate to have him back)... Crawley came in at he last minute, but he's a genuine lad and he had promised Grimsby. When Hurst got sacked Grimsby were in trouble and they changed to kick it and lump it and that was why Harry never featured. He's a footballer.. a pity he never got the Crawley chance..
That’s fine but he’s standing out on a level that suggests he’s a cut above it. Wood was very inconsistent, Moylan is playing at a good standard now and will likely play miles more next season. KLP played national league north before breaking through
Yeah. Only downside to that would be he can’t play for us at all next season and if he doesn’t break into our squad next season, even as someone who comes off the bench for 20 minutes, I can’t see him ever breaking into our first team. I’d recall him in July, give him minutes in pre-season and if he impresses, keep him around this year. He’s much better than Vaughan right now imo.
Jarvis has been very inconsistent this year, he's very lively but he turns over the ball an awful lot and many of his performances this year I've seen, have shown glimpses more than anything else. It's also pretty harsh to say Wood was inconsistent, he was massive for Shelbourne and pretty reliable.
He was inconsistent though, very good on the whole. It’s pretty normal anyway to be inconsistent in your first full season at senior level.
Sky commentator saying Cooper is being released by Leeds this summer. How many weeks till we’re linked?
There’s a lot of international football on this summer which I reckon will have an effect on when transfer deals will take place for certain players. Bryan Reynolds, for example, is playing for the USA team in the Olympics so won’t be available between 24th July until the 9th August so you’d expect any deal to take place before or after then if we are interested in him and he probably wouldn’t have a full pre-season with us if we signed him before that.
He was on their retained list a couple of weeks ago….but his contract expires in June so a bit ambiguous.
Now Leeds have blown their chance to get back into the premiership their finances are shot. They owe millions in unpaid transfer fees, breached FFP rules and need to have a fire sale . Would we want to go in for any of their players who will be wondering if they will get paid
They also have wealthy owners and parachute payments. They'll also sell their best players for a lot of money, I don't think they'll find themselves in difficulty.
