Boring game. Man City playing at a snails pace as Utd hoping to catch them on the counter. Time to do something else.
Brain fart moment from Gvardiol. He’s been in really good form recently but don’t let the beard fool you as he’s still younger than Greaves.
Haaland’s an amazing goal-scorer but this is one of many games where he’s done absolutely **** all. If he’s not scoring, he looks like a blond Tom Eaves.
Guardiola’s overthinking and over-tinkering working wonders again in a big knockout game. He might be a world class manager, one of the best if not the best, but this isn’t the first final or semi-final he’s shot himself in the foot with his pissing about unnecessarily. Why drop Dias and Akanji for Aké and Stones? Why drop Doku for Kovačić and push Foden out wide when he’s been playing brilliantly in a free-roaming central role recently? He did this **** in the Champions League final against Chelsea several years too and lost.
He’s the best manager in the world right now in my opinion but I still don’t get why he’s dropped Dias and Akanji at centre-half for this game. Stones has barely played in the last few months.
Rewarding some of the fringe players’ patience by playing them in a high profile but anticipated easy win game against what are now a lesser team?
Looks like Pep’s switching from a double to a single pivot. Should assist in making the transition quicker but might add pressure to the midfield due to Man Utd’s high press.
Which kind of speaks to my point about Guardiola. He tinkers around in important games in knockout competitions because he underestimates his opponents sometimes. It’s not for lack of attention to detail so I think it’s just arrogance/overconfidence.
Yeah, I didn’t post earlier ‘cos I didn’t want to be arguing unnecessarily about a game that I don’t really care about, but I’m with Plum. Somewhat ironically here City are the arrogant moneybags cheats and Utd are the plucky underdog that I’m enjoying seeing beat them (though to clarify before I get picked up on it, still not very likeable ones and I’d much rather it was someone else)
