I have a family member that married a woman from Kent. She didn't know where sunderland was, came up, moved to Roker and fell in love with the place. defends it tool and nail to anyone giving the northeast ****. she also said "I'll never move back down there". Its like in sunderland til I die,Clarke and Roberts driving along the seafront "you don't get this in London".

The work in Seaburn and Roker is really unlocking of the city.

Actually, as has been said, our city is beautiful.

Everywhere has its run down and low income areas, actually most places now have a town centre on its knees, the world changed. Credit the council for moving to change it at long last and actually the city is shaping up to be decent, if different.

What everywhere doesn’t have is 2 stunning beaches, a mock Greek monument, green land for days….

We spent all day Saturday around Roker and Seaburn and as an SR6 pad I was so happy to be spending my money in the city after years of it being spent abroad or on Tyneside. That in itself shows there’s more appeal now and long may it continue.

There were a lot of happy faces around all day and that was on a **** weather day. Come the better weather the value of that now more or less completed work along the coast will hugely benefit the city and its economy.

I’m in my 40’s and this period is actually the most positive I’ve been about Sunderland. Hopefully they don’t drop the ball.

We’ve even looked at a few houses in and around SR6, moving back to Sunderland was unthinkable to me not 5 years ago.

I have 3 dogs at the moment and 2 of them are the most gentle dogs I have ever Known.

    Niall (whippet)

Dylan (Otterhound) huge deep bark but would never hurt a fly, not sure how they ever hunted otters :)

I also know someone who has a blood hound who was at crufts, he could never find anyone :)

I can not mention roker, my cross lab, been with me for 12 years, saw me through cancer and everything, such a clever dog, but what a greedy ****er :)

No plus side I'm afraid, we've lost Debenham, clarks, Super Dry, River Island or New Look, city centre is looking bleak

That's great if you've got the ability to get to Washington.
City centres are dying on their feet, if we lost our M&S in Kendal it would hardly be worth going into the town anymore.
Internet shopping is devastating a lot of retailers, it's a difficult one to square with if I'm honest.

I’ve hardly been in Kendal ( since Covid ended) maybe 8/9 times, went in every Saturday before Covid. Covid has changed a lot of peoples habits. I admit town centres were dying before Covid though.
