He was playing well again .. he also scored some very important goals when Everton needed someone to in the relegation battles over the last few seasons. I understand people would rather have someone else, but he is actually a good player that would strengthen the squad and who says they won't add another? He's woods replacement.
The problem with DCL with the exception of his injuries is that he's so profligate in front of goal. This season, in the PL, he has an xG of 13.73 but only scored 7. This is awful compared with Wilson - 9.34 xG, 9 scored and Isak 22.06 xG, 21 scored We would be significantly worse off if Wilson had a 50% hit rate this season so replacing him with DCL feels like a downgrade to me
And scored less than a third of the goals of Isak. Combine that with the colossal 2 goals that he got last season. DCL? **** that.
I don't like the continued Everton links, we obviously did well with Gordon, but we don't need any more from them. Early on in the season there were lots of rumours of Onana, who looks like a blundering great ox.
Different side quality of chances and overall mood is different. I don't see him as wilsons replacement because we need 3. He's woods. Lewin was a beast when Everton were doing well and getting in the England side, so there's no reason why they can't get him while his stocks fallen and for him to do a job here.
I have a feeling that Everton will still ask a lot of money for him though. Don't think we'd get him for anywhere near Chris Wood money
They will overprice all their players as they desperately need the money. DCL won't be cheap, which means there will be better options elsewhere.
Just been speaking to a mad Everton fan and the talk down there is that DCL wants the move and that the interest is real.
He's bound to want to come.. his stock has fallen and Newcastle is an opportunity to play in a good side and try to reach the heights he did early in his career. He'll feel he can score more goals here. I think he's a decent player and could end up being a very useful option... if the price is less than they sold wood for or similar it's good work imo.
Not bad at all.. if he gets back to what he was before his injuries that value will double in one year.
I'm just saying it's pointless rating players on who they play for. They're either good players or they're not. Good players will struggle in poor sides most the time.
Someone like Adebayo would probably be better - is younger, historically less injury prone, scored more last season in a weaker team, would probably cost around the same.
